With their latest single Poor Edward takes a plunge into a more focused pop  sound, although there are still traces of both the familiar americana and folk sensibility. In addition to the duo's unmistakable harmony vocals, "My Mind" is seasoned with a singable chorus and an infectious two-part harmony guitar riff, complete with sassy horns that provides a dose of Motown feeling. "My Mind" is a fresh and uplifting pop song.

Bak artistnavnet Poor Edward står de to brødrene Kristian og Martin Tungland Rinde fra Stavanger. De snekrer melodiøse popsanger, gjerne med elementer fra powerpop, folk og americana. De har blant annet blitt sammenlignet med The Jayhawks, Midnight Choir, Ben Harper og The Everly Brothers. 

Brødrene har høstet mange lovord for sine to EP utgivelser, ”Summerrain”(2008), ”Soldiers and Sundays”(2009), og for sine konserter landet rundt, både som duo og med sitt backingband. 

De hevder selv, helt blottet for ironi, å være opptatt av de små tingene i hverdagen. De synes det er viktig at kaffetrakteren i øvingslokalet blir rengjort med jevne mellomrom. De liker det ekte, det jordnære og har i ung alder lært at ukomplisert ikke betyr lettvint. Det musikalske produktet Poor  Edward serverer er variert; til tider vemodig og lavmælt, ofte energisk og oppløftende, men alltid preget av håp og melodisk glede. Brødreparet legger stor vekt på autentisitet, tekst og harmonier, og deres musikalske uttrykk kan høres ut som en krysning av artister som Calexico, Marit Larsen, The Jayhawks og Odd Nordstoga. 

Nå er Poor Edward aktuelle med sitt første album. Den nye platen, som har fått tittelen Time Is Gonna Change You, er produsert av Ashley Stubbert, og det meste av innspillingen foregikk i en avsides hytte på Suleskardfjellet. Platen kommer ut på labelen CCAP 18.november.
På innspillingen bidrar Øystein Tengesdal (trommer), Torje Fanebust Ås (bass), Thomas Torstrup (orgel, piano), Erlend Aasland (pedalsteel, banjo).

Det er allmenngyldige temaer Poor Edward tar opp i låtene sine. De ønsker å formidle en følelse av livets ytterpunkter, sorger og gleder – og håp. De siste årene har vært preget av store oppturer og dype bølgedaler for de to brødrene, og derfor er det et variert uttrykk som presenteres gjennom de ti låtene på den nye platen. Krydret med en smak av tørr galgenhumor, er Poor Edwards musikk personlig og reflekterende, men ikke påtrengende. Bakteppet for låtene inneholder lyden og 
historien om levd liv, liv som ebber ut og nytt liv som kommer til. Det er ekte historier fortalt oppriktig uten at det er tilgjort. Det handler rett og slett om livene til to vanlige gutter fra Stavanger – slik livene er nå.

Poor Edward is the duo consisting of Martin and Kristian Tungland Rinde; two brothers from 
Stavanger - a city on the West coast of Norway. Writing and performing their own songs, Poor Edward can be classified as a mixture of pop and rock with notable folk tendencies. Their trademark is a guitar and vocals sound, largely focused on lyrics and harmony. The music is melodious, sometimes melancholy, often understated and always authentic. 

The duo themselves claim – without irony or pretence – to be concerned with the little things in life. From an early age they learned that 'simple' does not mean plain, or even easy. When asked about their inspiration, the duo draws influence from folks such as The Everly Brothers via The Jayhawks and Calexico to Bruce Springsteen. Having both dabbled in music separately since childhood, it was not until they grew older that they decided to join forces and write music together. Since 2005, the duo has completed several tours around Norway, both as an acoustic duo and with their backing band. They have also released, to great critical acclaim, the EPs Summerrain (2008), and Soldiers & Sundays (2009). The duo explores the unique dynamics that exist between brothers, for better or worse. Their work live and recorded bears witness to mature reflection and heartfelt emotion of their relationships.

Joining up with US producer/engineer Ashley Stubbert (Pearl Jam, Sebastian Waldejer, Purified In Blood) the brothers escaped to a remote mountain cabin along with their accompanying musicians. After lugging recording equipment and guitar amps up the grassy hill the cabin soon became the perfect musical getaway suited for recording, experimenting and focusing on the music... and the wine. The overall goal for the record was to take the Poor Edward sound to another level sonically, and to delve into the subjects and the stories of their songs.

Poor Edward convey’s a sense of life's extremes; of grief, happiness – and hope. Recent years for the two brothers have consisted of extraordinary highs and lows, leading to a variety of expression on the album's ten songs. Spiced with a touch of dry humour, Poor Edward's music is personal and appealing, yet not invading. Their songs carry the sound of life lived, true stories told earnestly without affectation. Time Is Gonna Change You, will be released November 18th 2011 on CCAP, so that these stories will touch and inspire others.

A Little Time

April 5th 2013 sees the release of the EP 'Brooklyn' by Poor Edward, recorded in Braund Sound studio in New York summer of 2012. This release is a step aside from the folk/americana-sound that mainly influenced their previous work. The harmonies, the lyrics and the acoustic guitars are still the most important elements in Poor Edwards music, but this time around there is room for something more as well, such as electronic elements, loops, programmed drums and synths.

Since 2006, Poor Edward has completed several tours around Norway, both as an acoustic duo and with their backing band. The band has gained a solid and varied live experience through the years, having played over a hundred shows at all kinds of venues throughout Norway, including clubs, music halls and festivals. 
Poor Edward has also done several supporting gigs for well established artists like Lissie (US), Beach House (US) and norwegian artists like CC Cowboys and Ida Jenshus.

They released their first full length album, 'Time Is Gonna Change You', in november 2011. 
The album was well received by music press and critics, leading to a broader span of attention. Several songs from the album also received considerable airplay on norwegian national radio. The release was followed by an extensive tour in January and February 2012.

Poor Edward has also released the EP's 'Summerrain' (2008) and 'Soldiers & Sundays' (2009).
