A higher plain of consciousness is chartered during ‘Imbongi’, the new collaborative single between breakthrough Moroccan musical prodigy Jalal Ramdani, and UK afro house activist Mr. Silk. Featuring Africa’s majestic vocalist Lizwi, and with remixes by two afro house heavyweights, Enoo Napa and FNX OMAR, this compelling EP gets a long awaited release on BLOND:IDSH’s ABRACADABRA label.
 
The duo already released an infectious blockbuster last summer, “SESA”, that stole the show and was heavily supported by Keinemusik and Black Coffee.
 
The Imbongi, in African tradition, is a composer and orator of poems praising a lover, a chief or other
figureheads, and on this fresh production, positive musical magic is teased from every pore, as Jalal and Silk’s hypnotising production lets Lizwi’s vocal soar high above the transcendental groove. Speaking about the collaboration, Jalal divulges “Imbongi came about when myself and Silk were running afro-house events in London during the end of 2019, so the idea of a collaboration surfaced in between these events. The goal was to showcase a track where we blend the modern groove of house music with the traditional touches of our African heritage (I grew up in Marrakech, and Silk has African origins). We finally decided to materialise the project in my London studio in June 2020 during lockdown. It was done quickly, 3 to 4 days, as there were no distractions due to lockdown. The vocals are in Zulu language and portray a poet, the Imbongi, who recited all his love poems to his lady. We sent the original to Enoo and FNX, who gifted us with masterpiece remixes a month later.”
 
Remixes come courtesy of Enoo Napa, who has impressed via previous releases and mixes for Madoras, King Street Sounds and Go Deeva Records, and also a version from FNX OMAR, another Moroccan mastermind, whose credentials include remixes for Stereo Productions, Spinnin’ Deep and MoBlack Records.
 
Jalal Ramdani has also released music on Madoras, Connected and Moblack, amid this recent tour in Latin America/Art Basel, and upcoming performance in the legendary BPM festival.

Producing an intoxicating blend of Afro/Latin, deep and tech house sounds, French  artist Drush teams up with Oluhle (herself no stranger to Abracadabra) for his  latest release. Having previously released on labels such as Malone’s Hurry Up  Slowly label and the Hong Kong based Calamar Records, Drush tees up the spiritual and warming single ‘Nyakalo’. 

“I produced ‘Nyakalo’ whilst I was on vacation in Spain. I love the work of Oluhle for many years and I always wanted to make a track with her, she has a great soul and  sings with a heart that I love, so I contacted her to work on the track with me. Moojo  sent the track to Viv (Abracadabra) who liked it and played it for the first time in her  Antartica mix, she contacted me straight after to tell me she wanted to sign the  track. I love her productions and the work she does on Abracadabra, so I didn’t  hesitate to accept that proposition!” 

Breaking out of the Parisian electronic music scene, Drush held his first DJ  residency in the French capital at the young age of 18. Since those formative years,  the DJ and producer has clocked up shows across Europe and beyond, fuelled by  his love of dance music and culture that began with a passion for hip hop, soon to  develop into a strong connection to electronic grooves.

He has performed in top clubs and venues across Italy, Europe, Uk and Turkey, supporting artists such as Maxi Meraki, Moojo, Pablo Fierro and gaining international recognition with multiple releases on labels like Individual Music and Radiant Music, receiving support from DJs such as Black Coffee, Hyenah, Curol, Kasango, Fka Mash and many more.

He is a self-taught musician and DJ, Eren is known for his rapid learning and hardworking nature, excelling in performing and composing 6 different instruments. 

He dove into the scene at just 18, rocking the biggest clubs in Milan. What sets him apart is his groovy and fascinatingly aggressive rhymes and tunes, who see a perfect blend of extremely organic and nature oriented sounds and textures to futuristic and innovative sound sculpting.

Du 27 aout au 2 septembre, le festival POP IN DJERBA plante les piquets sur le bord de mer pour offrir une programmation défricheuse, entre pop, rock et électro, avec des artistes de notoriété internationale comme Connan Mockasin, Egyptian Hip Hop, Collège, Success ou encore Thieves Like Us avec plus de 8000 personnes réunies sur 3 hectares sur les rivages de Tunisie.

A la fois ludique, festif et engagé dans la dynamique de renouveau du pays, Pop In Djerba proposera - outre ses deux scènes qui accueilleront plus de 8000 personnes sur 3 hectares, des scénographies originales réalisées par des artistes contemporains des deux rives de la Méditerranée.

La première édition du festival Pop In Djerba se démarque de par sa volonté d’innovation culturelle dans un pays en pleine mutation. Au delà de la qualité de sa programmation résolument interculturelle, le festival développe une économie créative avec la création d’emplois locaux et une formation dispensée aux jeunes techniciens tunisiens. Cette première édition sera aussi l’occasion de découvrir un village associatif où se croiseront divers acteurs locaux, avec comme principales thématiques l’écologie, la citoyenneté, le droit des femmes, l’artisanat, l’accès à la culture. Des workshops de journalisme et de création de radios communautaires donneront aux jeunes de nouveaux moyens d’expression.
