Born in Edo state, Nigeria to an Ibo dad and Yoruba mum, EGO started singing at a very tender age. She joined Lagbaja in 1994 and with such hits like ‘Konko Below’, ‘Nothing for you’ and ‘Never far’ away, she became a household name. Motivated by her love for music and desire to present herself and her type of music to the world, she  ‘graduated’ from Lagbaja’s band after twelve years and has set up her own band called INDIGO. Ego! has received numerous awards from different organisations amongst which are Kim Lawani’s most promising female act of the year at the Fame music awards 1998 and the best female vocalist of the year at the Hip-Hop world awards 2006.She has collaborated with artistes like Sony Neji,Djinee,Tosin martins,Ayanbirin,Blaise to mention a few.She has also performed with Weird Mc,Asa,Cobhams,Yinka Davies... She released her first single titled ‘I BELIEVE in 2007.As a Glo ambassador,she performed amongst other artistes on the Glo Rock'n'Rule tour between late 2008 and early 2009.She has performed at the world music day concert organised by The French Cultural Centre,and the Felabration concerts. She also performs with her band at private functions.She is currently working on her debut album which will be released soon.

‘My love for Music has been my sustenance in a world fraught with negativity. Through my Music, sharing of my spirit, I hope I bring you a little succor.’A vibrant, good natured and free spirit who loves Music, life, family and friends.
She studied at the University of Benin. 
Music has always been in her family growing up, listening to the likes of Miriam Makeba, Evelyn King, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, OnyekaOnwenu, Shalamar, FelaAnikulapoKuti,  Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and many more.
She started training her voice by listening to Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. 
Oyemi has done a little bit of acting too in a soap called ‘The Circle of Three’ alongside Bimbo Akintola, Kate Henshaw – Nuttal, Ireti Doyle, Keppy Ekpeyong, etc.
Her goal is to give people Music they can appreciate, that will bring laughter,and great joy, Music that will make a difference in their lives, and also provide healing not only of the body but also the mind and soul. 
Oyemi just loves music and hopes that years from now , she keeps doing Music. Also,will want to do more acting and definitely work with great Artists both in the Movie and Music world.
