Pour les dix ans de Popcorn Records, il était impossible de ne pas faire un disque un peu spécial. Nous avons choisi le format compilation, parce que nous voulions plein d’artistes sur ce projet aussi important que symbolique, des habitués du label bien sûr mais aussi des petits nouveaux. Nous avons réuni 3 générations de producteurs, de la légende au new comer, ils étaient tous les bienvenus. Le résultat est la : 18 titres originaux et 19 titres en tout, seul celui du très regretté Daso n’est pas exclusif puisqu’il était déjà sorti il y a quelques années sur le label. 

For the tenth anniversary of the French label Popcorn Records, it was impossible not to make a somewhat special record. That’s why we chose the compilation format, because we wanted a lot of artists on this important and symbolic project, regulars of the label of course, but also newcomers. We brought together 3 generations of producers, from legend to youngsters, they were all welcome. The result is there: 18 original tracks and 19 tracks in all, only the one from the much missed Daso is not exclusive since it was already released a few years ago on the label.

French Connection is the meeting of Chez Damier and his new disciples Siler & Dima and the talented new comer Thomas Zander, orchestrated by Chez Damier’s willingness to transmit and share his unique experience. The idea is also to create a musical bridge between Popcorn Records and Balance US, Chez Damier’s record label.

Starting from a mutual musical basis in order to create an Original and a Club version each, Popcorn Records presents the fruit of this second collaboration before a special vinyl dedicated to remixes, to come on Balance.

Sidney & Suleiman - PCR#039

Now part of the family for more than a year, TvFrom86 aka Thomas Zander is releasing his 1st solo EP on the imprint. Tvfrom86 did a brilliant debut on Roche Musique with the single “Losing you” including the very good electro funk song “Brooklyn Business”. 

Keeping the good work and the talent for sampling, TvFrom86 explored the funk with dexterity and exactness in Purple People adding just what the sample needed to sublimate it and make it as powerful as it deserves to be. Creative Swing Alliance, side project of the talented label manager for MCDE, Pablo Valentino, and Steven Wobblejay, gave their own interpretation with and heavier bass and no less efficiency. 

S3A was invited on the project for the rework of Flying Piano, the third original of the release. The French producer, very proactive at the moment with releases on Lazare Hoche, Hold Youth, Faces,  Large Musique and more, definitely didn’t steel his nickname. S3A Is telling us three stories in one with a rough analogic sound for an impressive result.

Efficient DJ tool, perfect to turn a dance floor into a mess, By all means combines great rhythmic, samples and voices around a bass guitar for the last original of this French touch record.

Willie Griffin aka Boo Williams, Born July 20, 1967 in Chicago, Boo Williams has been a part of the city's house music entourage since 1981. This was when he first stepped up to the turntables and started DJing. Later on in the 1990's, Boo began production and then later remixing in '93. He started out parting on the city's south side soon introduced to Glenn Underground who got him started in music production.

For its ninth release Popcorn is proud to present the second EP of the man from Koln that we do not introduce anymore: Daso. This artist who became a real friend and mainly one of the head artist of the label is one of the talented producer in the recent electronic music circus.
Immer, the main track of this release, gathers a collection of generous and deep sounds sprinkled with hypnotics’ synths: No mistake. The Italian Nico Lahs (Ovum, Poker flat...) gives us a brilliant own interpretation playing with the bass through acid touches. Definitely underground.
Schub the second original of this opus confirms Daso’s potential to produce Deep House. Strong original themes, romantic piano, voices and Rolland’s drums are a sweet taste of springs. Chordster is the last original but not the least. The lead piano drives the acid snare all along the track. The result is more than effective and brings your mind right into Daso’s universe, forever.
