This song acts as a poignant commentary on how digital platforms have transformed the landscape of romance. While they offer new opportunities for connection, they also challenge us to consider the value of authenticity and genuine human interaction in building meaningful relationships.

Brighton-based electronic pop duo Sock Drawer return with “Bored” a woozy, slow-burning dream-pop track set in a parallel universe where they’re rich, famous, and finally on tour. In reality? They’re just... bored.

One of the earliest tracks written for their upcoming debut album, “Bored” began as a stripped-back acoustic tune—a half-baked escape plan rooted in a fantasy trip to Amsterdam. That trip never happened, but the daydream stuck. Over time, the song grew into a layered, sample-heavy voyage through inertia and imagination. Guitars pulse with restless energy, drum loops stutter and swirl, and the final section bursts into a euphoric 4-to-the-floor outro—a pop-fuelled hallucination of a tour that never was.

Vocalist Ebony Grace reflects on being a tourist in your own life adrift, daydreaming, and disconnected. “‘Bored’ is set in a kind of parallel universe—by the end of the track, we’re on tour and rich and famous. But really, we’re just daydreaming on the sofa,” she says.

It’s escapism disguised as a pop song—or maybe the other way around.

“Urban Wilderness (Reimagined)” is an up-tempo alchemy of 80’s synth-pop and modern electronica in which dancy grooves and vocal stutters are drenched in melancholic synths. Multi-instrumentalist/producer Gerry's funky rhythm guitars sparkle around slap-bass licks, while Emma’s captivating lead vocal soars above the nostalgic soundscape. The song is written as an homage to Cape Town, the duo’s beloved hometown, and South Africa’s famous Mother City. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of the city, with contrasts between nature and urban sprawl, alluding to both the thrill of traveling the world and a nostalgic longing for home – a bittersweet love letter.

It's about meeting someone at an intimate house party and finding myself plunged into a hypnotically captivating conversation with subject matter as rudimentary as breakfast preferences and as intricate as conspiracy theories. He was entertained for hours by her eloquent, mushroom-tea fuelled tangents.
