
It’s hard to believe that it was only 10 years ago when Pork Rib were driving around in their green metallic Skoda delivering Bounty Bars without any coconut filling to university students in East London. Who would have believed that the two would have so much more to give than the odd coconut shy chocolate bar?

It all started one miserable wet Sunday afternoon well into a dark deluded carry-on at their East London flat. Hours after coming home; when the eye licking and blowing coke up each others bums from the morning had been long forgotten. Pork decided to order a Chinese Meatball Salad with extra BBQ sauce: it was this decision that was going to change their life for good.

By the time the order came to the door, Rib was locked in a trance like state focusing hard on the buttons of his Awai stack sound system. Unable to find a suitable radio station for his current state of mind, Rib decided that his size nine shoe would work better as a receiver. However, just as he was about to swipe the stereo with an almighty whack, Pork came flying back in screaming at him to stop. Pork had found a pair of Technics belt-drive turntables left outside
in the rain and immediately the two of them, like a pair of crazed rabbits, hooked up every piece of electric goods they had through the one power socket on the kitchen wall. The freezer, kettle, toaster and even Rib’s prized electric toothbrush all went together through a systematic arrangement of cables resembling the phone network skyline of Mumbai. When it was complete, Pork, with BBQ sauce on his finger foolishly flicked the switch without drying the equipment, and the two
were instantly fried. The explosion took out both East and North London power grids and fused their apartment closed shut.

 No one knew they were in there, so nobody went looking for them. The flat was condemned and until a recent council notice of demolition, the pair never left their makeshift studio for many years, feasting on Meatball Salads and next-days Pizza-In-a-Cup for fuel. Some say it was the BBQ sauce that saved Pork and Rib that day. Whatever it was, one thing is true: with the help of this new electric BBQ infusion inspired drive, the two now known as just Pork Rib would still be licking eyelids and picking fluff out of their belly buttons on severe Sunday comedowns creating delicate beats that question sanity.

One of their first tracks, Beau is a deep groovy walk through a ghostly baseline that has you pulling your eyelids down over your chin forcing you to take a long hard look at yourself. A sound that is synonymously known as Pork Rib BBQ Flavour!
