Arms and Sleepers - Tiger Tempo

Newly re-configured as a three piece, Portico (Duncan Bellamy, Milo Fitzpatrick and Jack Wyllie) are delighted to unveil a brand new song from their forthcoming album. 

Bordering on the hallucinatory, their hypnotic music moves forwards towards distant places, arriving somewhere between structured pop songs and a disintegrating ambience. “Living Fields” featuring vocals by Jono McCleery is the perfect introduction. 

The band is also thrilled to announce that they’ve signed to Ninja Tune. Currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to the full length, with collaborators Jamie Woon, Jono McCleery and Joe Newman (Alt-J).

Rarely do remix albums have this level of quality control and seemingly infinite replay value. Whereas Ultraísta's debut album commits to its palette with uncanny precision and devotion, Remixes explodes its individual parts and reveals the group to be equally compelling as techno powerhouse (Four Tet, FaltyDL, DC Sux), dark electro-pop (Zero 7, Zammuto, ERAAS, Canon Blue), experimental dance (Prefuse 73, Matthew Herbert), and even driving industrial rock (David Lynch in an inspired NIN-meets-YYYs turn). Sending out echoes of jazz, electronica, ambient music and minimalism, Mercury Prize nominated Portico Quartet have created their own singular, cinematic sound over the course of five lauded studio albums and one EP.

From the band’s 2007 breakthrough Knee-Deep in the North Sea, and the John Leckie produced Isla in 2010, to the self-titled recording Portico Quartet in 2012, the heralded Art In The Age Of Automation in 2017 and the critically acclaimed Memory Streams in 2019, each album has seen the band expand its palate or explore new trajectories.
