I don’t know what lies at the end of this, or even if there is an end. The narrow passageways we once squeezed through have opened into cathedrals of staggering height. My boots have worn to pieces, and my memories from before this journey feel as distant as a past life, yet I feel nothing but the drive to keep moving forward. I left my tac-pack ages ago, a twisted amalgamation of sensors and dials naively attempting to understand the incomprehensible. There is no purpose for such tools in this temple, whatever pulls me in cannot be measured or recorded, only experienced. After everything I leave you with this final entry. I hope what’s left of my records can make it back to the surface, but my calling lies deeper still.

Sending out echoes of jazz, electronica, ambient music and minimalism, Mercury Prize nominated Portico Quartet have created their own singular, cinematic sound over the course of five lauded studio albums and one EP.

From the band’s 2007 breakthrough Knee-Deep in the North Sea, and the John Leckie produced Isla in 2010, to the self-titled recording Portico Quartet in 2012, the heralded Art In The Age Of Automation in 2017 and the critically acclaimed Memory Streams in 2019, each album has seen the band expand its palate or explore new trajectories.
