This is a lovesong to my husband Daniel. I wrote this one at a time where I was  inbetween being home alone and travelling a lot. I loved it but at the same time I missed my family.

03 The Trouble Is

This is basically me trying to convince my old band mates not to stay. My band braking up was one of the biggest heartbrakes I expirienced in my life. It took a long time recover from it.

04 Higher Ground

In this one I'm singing about one of my neighbours at our first flat in Neukölln. And about walking my son to school everyday and getting to know our new home.

05 Counting Stones

I wrote this one kind of as a bedtime song for my son Nepomuk. It's basically about the struggle of probably every parent on the planet. You can't wait for your child to grow up and be independent but you also want them to stay small and cuddely forever.

06 But at Night

I wrote this on tour sitting in the front passenger seat with someone I didnt know very well driving very fast and listening to some weird German electro goth music. 

07 I Could Die

I'm pretty good at not saying what I'm thinking (I'm actually working on that!). So at times I would start writing these long letters in my mind imagining sending them. I never even write those letters. But I wrote this song.

08 A Letter

this one was inspired by a novel trilogy by my favourite Irish author Roddy Doyle. The second part of the trilogy ("Oh Play That Thing") partly takes place in New York City where it all feels like a big bad exhausting chase. And the frase "old water" keeps coming up. I loved that frase and  the picture it made in my head. So I made it my own.

09 Old Water

This one has quite a long story. We were coming back to Berlin from tour with my old band - just to get ready for our big record release show the same night. while still on the Autobahn we recieved a call that somebody had tried to brake into our flat so the door was all bent and we could'nt get in. While waiting for the locksmith and getting nervous if we will be able to make it on time to our show this weird feeling overcame me. Like the whole band thing I love so much started slipping out ouf my hands and I couldn't manage to hold on to it. Like when you're having the time of your life and you try to burn that memory into your mind because you know it won't last. Either way it will be forever gone. No matter how tight you hold on. A few weeks later the band split up...

10 Forever Gone

this is basically just discribing our family morning routine. With something in the air. Like an upcoming fight. Or a loning for change. But we're in it together. Forever.

11 In the Morning

Pretty obviously I'm trying to discribe dealing with a broken heart. Again it's not about my partnership/lovelife. But actually it doesn't matter. A broken heart is a broken heart. It can come in so many different shapes and sizes. And from so many different kinds of relationships. I guess it is always human made. And I don't think you can ever get used to it.

Port Noo means new port in Irish and is  also the new beginning of Singer/Songwriter and multi instrumentalist Hannah Permanetter.

Port Noo's songs deal with misfortune but are really about the glimmer of hope within. Songs that scrape confidence from the dark corners of existence, telling stories of despair and redemption, about being lost in metropolis and the longing for the home port. About finding one's own language.
