Well my birth name is Edwin Perez, I was born to a single mother on January 28, 1981, in Chicago Illinois, my life has been a difficult one if I may, because of the fact that I never had a father in my life to teach me right from wrong, my mom was always struggling to give us everything that she could, but the situation just got harder for her being a single mother of 5 kids, I cant remember much of my childhood, because when I was very young I accidently took some of my mothers heart pills that ended my life, but as the story goes, my mother just wouldn't let her 3rd child go. And by the grace of god I was given a second chance in life, which I am very greatful for, but also took advantage of. By the age of 8 I started to hang out with the wrong croud and eventually ended up in the street gang, but this was also the age were my passion for music started to develop, all because of one song, that song was called "Gangster Lean" by "D.R.S." everysince I heard that song I took an Interest in writting my own music, determined to do whatever it took to get reconized, eventhough I had no experience in anything of that nature, all I ever wanted was to be noticed by the world as a good artist, for me it was never about fortune nor fame, because I new in my heart that my situation wasn't all that bad, and there was people out there who needed more help than what I did, as the years whent by I got more and more involved with the street gangs and eventually I stoped writting music, I had giving up on life and had no hope towards the future. By the age of 15, I had experienced many good and bad things from being in the streets, I came to realize that those who called themself my friends were'nt really friends at all, they were just using me, just so that they can stay out of jail themself's, It was then that I have decided to tell my stories through music, so that the younger generation dont go through the same things that I went through, after 12+ year as a gangmember I finally decided to get out and moved away, thats when everything in my life started getting better and brighter, I started to write music again, met a very special lady in my life (Janet Gonzalez) who has blessed me with a very beautiful daughter that we named (Lyra Angelique Perez), I'm am also a proud step-father of her 2 beautiful children (kassidy Jade Perez & Erik Lucena II) we have been together for 3yrs now, and she has been my number 1 supporter through my struggles of wanting to be a Hip-Hop Artist, I can honestly say that if it wasn't for her help and support through it all, I would never have had the equiptment in which I now use to record nor the success that I have had now in days. Now many poeple know me as "Portorico" President and C.E.O. of "In Your Face Productions" a company in which we both took part in building. I.Y.F Productions was founded on August 10th of 2009 and its located in the state of Michigan, and we opperate out of my own home for the time being, I try to give many people the oppertunity to come to the studio and make some music, just so that they can stay out the streets, and because it makes me feel good to know that Im helping out in some way. My plans for this New Year is to continue making music that people can really relate to, and to continue helping others in any shape or form, I want to take the time to thank everyone who has shown me that support, that love and that respect that I think should be given to all Artist & Non Artist alike. Remember what it is said in the "Decleration of Independence" and I quote; "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
