RJD2 - Her Majesty's Socialist Request (Dj Niño Remix)

This sort of "fake pizzicato" synth sound is a disco classic, many others before Siriusmo have used it. Most notably, Massara's Margherita (later covered by Boney M.) makes thorough use of this sound, and many of Perrey and Kinsgsley's songs also feature it (by the way, Siriusmo himself has sampled Perrey a few times).

It's a simple sound to get "in the ball park", but to make it sound great the details are important. It has obviously a short attack in both filter and vca envelopes, and a short release. Play with your adsr controls to get it right.

To get the best results send a generous amount of envelope modulation to the filter, and use two vcos sync'd selecting the pulse waveforms. The key is to get a very narrow square wave (moving the pulse width controls) and playing with the pitches of the sync'd oscillators to get the right high frequency content. 

Last but not least, to achieve the trademark Siriusmo sound it's advisable to use plugin-style brickwall limiters, some reverb and a highpass filter before hitting the limiter.

Román Daniel aka Mans o is a multidisciplinary creator, whose talents range from graphic design to contemporary dance, but who is much more than that. He is an example of how producing music at a young age is not necessarily synonymous with artistic immaturity and in his case the producer from barcelona embodies this undeniably, creating with apparent ease and freshness, near pop melodic lines, deconstructed hip hop rhythms and liquid percussions with a lot of groove that seduces directly from the beginning, demonstrating in his own way whilst using machinery, that electronica can also be human. 

Beginning with the captivating and catchy 'El Tiempo que Salta', hatched out from samples that could well belong to folk music from the far south and guitar riffs that remain stuck in your head for days along with cacophonous voices, Mans o has managed to compose a unique piece, something like a futuristic lullaby. 

´Sweet and Sour´, the appropriately titled second song on the EP, where Mans o collaborated with the extravagant Max Grosero on the atonal vocals and primordial distress calls to gain a sweet and sour aftertaste that remains at the end, the kind of sweet point that you get from the melodies of something like a toy keyboard, altogether creating a type of narcotic soul ballad.  

Continuing with the marvelous ´Anule Day´, its progression addictive, from minimalism to maximalism in two minutes, soft and emotive keys at the beginning and heart-wrenching bass in the second half.

Closing Mans o´s second individual work is 'Freed', a short but intense theme which changes by surprise after a long, sharp introductory chord and disappears into a powerful bass line melody. This is the true protagonist of the track together with the melodic percussions that oscillate the pitch during the development of the song, all of which are cushioned by pads that create a celestial mattress that on finishing, leave you with wanting more. 

´Macaya´ is without a doubt a complete and consistent work, which grabs and traps you from beginning to end. It is a declaration of intentions from a young but restless Mans o, a part of a new generation of artists who play around with synths and samplers with an irreverent naturalness.

‘Doepfer Number 7’ was born last night. A single-take experiment in frequency and noise modulation of the A-111 sine output using audio-rate and low frequency LFOs. The A-102 diode filter is also being modulated but at a different rate so you can hear the self-oscillation as a separate component of the sound.

Giorgio Moroder no debería necesitar una presentación. Aún así hay mucha gente que no sabe la importancia que tuvo dentro de Hollywood en la década de los 70 y los 80. Responsable de bandas sonoras como "La historia interminable" o "El expreso de media noche", se convirtió en uno de los productores musicales más influyentes de Holywood. En su carrera como músico Moroder empezó a finales de los sesenta con hits de pop chicletoso en "That's Bubblegum - That's Giorgio". Pero en los 70 descubrió los sintetizadores y secuenciadores, y dicen que inventó el sonido disco, aunque yo siempre he pensado que, seguramente fue más que eso, ya que aún hoy sorprenden los sonidos de "From here to eternity" o "E=mc2". Alguna vez he puesto en casa "Utopia" para amigos, y alguno me preguntaba si lo que sonaba era lo nuevo de Miss Kittin.
La prueba irrefutable de lo que acabo de decir: ¿Cuántas veces habéis bailado "I feel love" de Donna Summer en una discoteca? Bien, pues esa canción también fue producida por él, y cómo sigue funcionando en la pista!

He decidido hacerle mi pequeño homenaje a Giorgio, no porque Daft Punk hayan decidido que deban ser ellos quienes le vuelvan a poner de moda, sino porque me fascina el personaje y la música, siempre lo ha hecho, desde que lo decubrí.
Solamente hay un pequeño corte de Moroder en la sesión. La selección de artistas y canciones esta vez corresponde a un criterio absolutamente personal: desde temas de rabiosa actualidad hasta temas de space-disco de los 70-80, y otros audios que simplemente me apetecía incluír. Todos ellos, según mi criterio, altamente influenciados por la música de Moroder, y mezclados intentando añadir a las pegadizas melodías de los 80 una producción actual y pistera. I really shouldn't need to introduce Giorgio Moroder. Even so, many people out there don't know the importance he had in the 70's and 80's. 
Responsable for soundtracks such as "The Never Ending Story" or "Midnight Express", he became one of the most popular musical producers in Holywood. His carrer started out in the late 60's with a record featuring Bubblegum Pop, "That's Bubblegum - That's Giorgio". But in the 70's he discovered synths and sequencers, and they say it was him who invented disco music, even though I wonder if he hasn't represented something more, because not many records last in time like Giorgio's, and I'm still surprised by some of the sounds in "From here to eternity" or "E=mc2". I once played "Utopia" for my friends, and one of them asked if it was the latest Miss Kittin single. Probably the proof that this is true lies in Donna Summer's "I feel love", also produced by Moroder. How many times have you danced it in a club and still enjoyed it like the first time?

I decided to make my personal homage to Giorgio, not because Daft Punk have decided they should be the ones to bring him back, but because I adore the character and the music ever since I first listened to his music. Actually, there's just one track by Moroder himself in the mixtape. The selection of artists and track responds to a strictly personal criteria: from very recent releases to space disco and italo tracks from the 70's-80's, and other strange audios (ehem). From my point of view every single artist in the mixtape has some kind of relation to Moroder's music, and I tried to mix them all together so that the cool melodies from the 80's are reinforced by today's punchy electronica. These boys know their shit well and play LIVE, refusing to hide behind just laptops, to bring you an incredible live electronic experience.

With their frantic mix of bleeps, bass, and excessive cowbell playing (even by Christopher Walken standards!) these men have cracked the dancefloors of venues like Apolo and Razzmatazz.

As of now they're doing remixes for other artists (Mans.O, Wesphere, Los Ganglios) and preparing a whole new EP due out 2015.
