Blood Orange

Poster Paints are Glasgow based duo Simon Liddell (Olympic Swimmers, Frightened Rabbit) and Carla J Easton. Introduced via The Vaselines, Poster Paints create visceral dream pop and shoegaze; the perfect amalgamation of Liddell’s wondrous guitar work and Easton’s dreamlike vocals to stargazing effect.



Individually, they have enjoyed success as parts of other bands and as solo artists. Liddell came to prominence through band Olympic Swimmers before going on to join the highly celebrated Frightened Rabbit, while Easton’s solo work, and with her band TeenCanteen, has seen her constantly reinvent her sound all while maintaining consistent critical acclaim.



Debut single ‘Number 1’ was described as “Reverb-splattered, riotous guitar melodies and supercharged vocals with jangle-pop primacy” (Line of Best Fit) and received extensive play from Marc Riley via BBC6Music, BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Scotland.



Carla J. Easton is an Award Nominated singer and songwriter with a background education in Visual Arts based in Glasgow, Scotland. She has collaborated with Scottish Opera for BBC Arts, National Theatre Scotland and written/co-written for TeenCanteen, BMX Bandits and Belle and Sebastian. Championed by Marc Riley on BBC6Music, she has performed at National and International Festivals including Pop Montreal, Indiefjord, The Great Escape, Edinburgh International Festival and Kendal Calling.



Simon Liddell is a Glasgow based guitarist and composer. He was a member of the band Frightened Rabbit, touring internationally and releasing via Atlantic Records. Major festival performances (including Glastonbury / Lollapalooza / Pukkelpop), TV appearances (David Letterman / Conan O’Brien). Notable collaborations include Aaron Dessner (The National), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Julien Baker. He was a member of the Owl John side project, also on Atlantic. Prior to Frightened Rabbit, Simon wrote and released with Olympic Swimmers, and more recently, a live guitarist for Paws and Gretta Ray. Since 2018 he has also contributed music and sound design for various theatre productions which have toured domestically and internationally.
