The first draft of my piece for found objects (4 pieces of purple heart and 2 cast-iron frying pans) and Max/MSP processing for the Future Music Lab 2015.  More to come! (and longer!).  Everything in this piece is created in real-time, no prerecorded samples are using because of the variety of frying pans and purple heart sounds that could be used in future performances.

On the verge of composed and improvised music, Whim (Ofer Pelz - prepared piano and Preston Beebe - drums and percussion) creates percussive landscapes by modifying their instruments and apply extended techniques to develop a rich sound palette. The piano is prepared with found objects such as close pins, chains, and erasers at specific nodal points of the strings and is treated as a percussive instrument. Found objects, bowls, gongs, and cymbals are placed on the skins of the drums which are then explored to create complex timbres and textures. Whim is a virtuosic duo who blends their musical worlds and experiences as composers and improvisors.
