This song is so significant to me. Inabangan ko release neto dati tapos nung napakinggan ko na umiyak ako sabay send ng sorry sa kaibigang nakaaway ko… (nagbati kami netong March lang kasi antagal namin walang connection hahaha). 

Andaming nagbago in the span of 2 years, ang kulit lang kasi hindi natin nararamdaman yun, saka lang kapag naglook back tayo nang masinsinan. Ewan, ang vulnerable ko sa kanta na ‘to… Andaming beses kong pinagsisihan yung pagiging duwag ko… Nasasaktan ako kapag may nasasaktan ako tapos hindi ko alam anong gagawin ko pero maganda rna itry kahit magkamali… Ang mahalaga e kahit papaano nahugasan yung sugat para iwas infection; bahala ka na kung kukutkutin mo yan hanggang sa lumalim. Made these tracks earlier this year and held onto them for a while because i was unsure what do with them.. but this time instead of vaulting them(like i have in the past many times), I’m letting them shine. I hope you all enjoy! Let me know which one is the flowiest!

“Higher Now” is a very personal track for me. I wrote it about that strange moment when you finally reach the place you’ve been climbing toward for so long the goal everyone told you to chase, the peak that was supposed to make you happy and yet, when you get there, it feels… empty.

For a long time I followed the path others pointed me to. I pushed myself higher and higher because I thought that’s what I had to do. And yes, I made it. I’m higher now. But standing at the top, I realized something important: achieving what others expect from you doesn’t always bring joy.

This song is about that realization about looking around, feeling proud of how far you’ve come, but also understanding that true happiness starts only when you begin choosing your own direction. Not someone else’s dream. Not someone else’s definition of success.

“Higher Now” is my reminder to myself, and to anyone listening: rise for yourself. Follow your own light. Even if the world tells you to climb a different mountain.

La Dispute's "Wildlife," the follow-up to their 2008 LP "Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair," is a nearly 60-minute musical examination of the twentysomething search for purpose; an exploration of the struggles that confront, damage, and redefine us inevitably in life through 14 tracks of new material. Set up as a collection of unpublished "short stories" complete with the author's notes and sectioned thematically by four monologues, "Wildlife" discusses the difficulties inherent in growing up by interweaving the author's own ambiguous loss and struggle for meaning alongside the stories it compelled him to document. Accordingly, each song musically captures both the moods and tones of those stories as well as the more subtle personal narrative throughout the entire record through a heavy reliance on dynamics and alternative instrumentation allowing for a diversity that shows nearly every spot on the spectrum while never sounding out of place, forced, or unfamiliar. Recorded at both Drasik Studios in Chicago and StadiumRed in New York with Andrew Everding and Joe Pedulla using no artificial reverb, La Dispute's sophomore full length organically captures the sound of five friends committed to pushing their own creative boundaries while still retaining a desire to create honest and emotional music. "Wildlife" arrives October 4 via No Sleep Records.
