@kiernan-laveaux is a boundless ball of chaos energy - an adventurous spirit, conducting the binary dissolving forces of our world that are reflected & transmuted through the unbridled passion contained within her DJing. The Cleveland artist's mission is "to channel love and understanding to dancers of open mind and spirit everywhere." Since 2014, her ethos of community building, personal autonomy, & transportative psychedelia has grown to encompass the multiversal creators of possible worlds everywhere, the In Training, Heaven is in You, & Disco Paradiso parties that traversed the wormhole of limitless expression & jouissance together in Cleveland from 2014-2018, & the Motherbeat raves that continue to manifest sporadically throughout our known universe. The music she plays is impossible to pin down in genre terms, but is unified by it's restless sense of ecstatic momentum, dissonant euphoria, & kinetic exuberance.

Her 80-minute mix for us this week is jam-packed with a little bit of everything, from peak time and head melting techno to heavenly electronics and Earth moving beats. The twisted rhythms and quick mixing style keep the whole thing moving at a real pace and move you ever closer to a transcendental state of dance floor psychedelia.

DJ Eft is a terrestrial amphibian with roots in NJ & Philadelphia. The now Portland based DJ, producer, designer, animator, & "World Healer" has spent time slinking through the mycelial forest duff, sampling the sounds and flavors of the PNW old growth and ocean. Eft is a natural farmer with a strong connection to the cycles of nature and makes contact with the spirits regularly which guide his ethereal selections in ambient, hypnotic techno, dub techno, trance infused tech-house, 4th world, and experimental IDM. 

I first met DJ EFT, also known as Mugwert at Aqua Lucidity, a festival on the sunshine coast last year. I awoke in my tent the Saturday morning after a heavy session to amazing selections I initially thought were coming from the main and only stage. Instantly drawn to the post night early morning DMT energy coming out of his portable mini rig - we became friends. 

I later in the summer travelled down to Canyon Vibrations in Oregon to watch EFT play the downtempo stage where I entered into another realm from his selections. 

Anyway stoked to have the homie on the Inc.ternational series where we're searching far and wide for those off kilter and beautiful moments in music out of the mundane and formulaic.

When we talk about identity and elaborated universes with coherence, two names cames naturally. 
The first one, Dream Software, is a brilliant graphic designer with an over marked identity, and his universe borrows his mixes of a very particular flavor as soon as it is a question of appreciating a work within a coherent whole. sånti co-head of Karagi crew and its mix serie drawings lulled with a delicious drollery. This fits perfectly with its weird leftfield dub & rock experimentations but also with every attempt to explore trancey and mental sonorities. 
For the 30th mixes they meet around a soaring and mindwave music.

One name that's been floating around the UK and beyond is Dj ojo !! 
A talent that all must know and hear. Joe aka Dj ojo is an artist, DJ and producer based in London. He first caught our attention back in 2021 releasing on Accidental Meetings first Compilation with a progressive, organic and emotive track called Mycelial, which set the tone for what was to come. Next releasing on Pressure Dome, Joe was able to create senses we never knew we had and leave us with hair standing on all parts. His music has really made an internally positive impact in the industry. His debut EP 'Coiled Up', released on Blank Mind, was a weird and cozy dose of 4 uniquely structured tracks that stunned us all. 
Joe not only produces but also Co runs 'Avant garbage' with legendary k means on Netail radio every month offering the most obscure sounds for your ears. He is also a resident on Leeds based station, NARR radio.
We are stoked to have Joe join Cozi with his one hour of dubby infused, house which was his first musical love!


Interview..........

1. How and why did you get into producing / dj’ing?

"I've been making music on and off since my teens but it was only about 3 years ago when i started taking it a bit more seriously. I also played drums when i was younger, and i've enjoyed making sounds and rhythms since as long as i can remember, so in some ways producing music felt inevitable. But there was still a massive mental hurdle just to start actually doing it properly. As for DJing, I guess thats just the natural progression from hogging the aux cord at house parties and friends cars. The music is a bit different these days though..."

2. Who, What/where was your most coziest gig you've been to or experienced and why?

"I think there are a variety of things that can make a gig cosy, a few experiences stick out for me... hearing Dozzy play slow deep house and techno feels like receiving a big warm hug; going to small and homely venues like Spanners is comforting, even if the music is not; ambient yurts at festivals often offer cosy outlets amongst the chaos - freerotation has the best one i've seen so far. Generally speaking London and the UK could definitely do with more venues focused primarily on comfort."

3.Are you an introvert or extrovert in the industry?

"Honestly it depends on my surroundings, overall i guess probably neutral. If i'm in a comfortable space surrounded by friends, then i like to express myself and make new connections. But i also value my solitude very highly and i like to be alone, even in the club from time to time. So if you see me out and i'm acting awkwardly that's probably why 😶‍🌫️"

5. What is your routine when preparing for a gig / production/writing session? do you have any special remedies/ mental prep/ places to go to? :)

"If i'm working on some music at home, i like to get into it early in the day if possible. I'll make a coffee and smoothie and prepare my desk area into a calming arrangement. I think most of the best music i've written has been first thing in the morning actually.

Preparing for a DJ gig is more of a gradual process of trying to picture myself in the environment, imagine how i'll feel, and choose a range of music accordingly. Then before the gig, eat a big bowl of pasta and try to not feel too anxious! "

DJ Eft's artistic journey takes him on a mystical exploration, delving deep into the hidden corners of the Pacific Northwest's lush landscapes. Immersed in the natural wonders of the region's ancient forests and majestic oceans, he absorbs the sounds and flavors that permeate these sacred spaces. With each sonic encounter, DJ Eft weaves a tapestry of emotions and experiences that resonate with the essence of his surroundings.

With roots in the pine barrens of New Jersey and streets of Philadelphia, DJ Eft, also known as Mugwert, has become an influential figure in the thriving music scene of his now home town Portland. Eft contributes regularly as a resident, poster designer, and curator to the budding two-room techno forward party "Osmosis", hosted in a 100 year old Chinese restaurant and lounge.

Dedicated in every sense to the work of creating space for dance DJ Eft lays his heart out in everything he does, culminating into something unmistakably emotional and earnest.

DJ Eft describes the mix as 'When recording a mix I need to create a ceremony of sorts where I get the vibe right and light my favorite incense. For this mix my intention was to weave hypnotic techno with bass laden breakbeats and heavier sounds. I ended up playing some chuggy slow tracks at the end to round things out. For this mix I borrowed a friend's cdj 3000's and used a Model 1 mixer recorded out to a Zoom H5 and maximized in Ableton in my basement listening/dj room. I really love this mixer for sculpting smooth blends and having detailed control of filters and frequencies. I had just a few hours left with the equipment by the time I recorded the mix as it was being rented for a party that night. I was able to finish the mix to my hearts content with about 30 minutes to spare and felt really solid about it after a listen.'
