This is a VERY old recording of a band based in Burton on Trent who went by the name of ‘Nice &amp; Easy.’ It was recorded and mixed by myself in a very small bedroom studio onto 8 track reel to reel. In those days reel to reel recorders were a ‘big deal’ – Now they’re almost obsolete in the home recording market. Technically, the recording is flawed, partly due to my lack of experience at the time and the basic equipment i used but I love it nevertheless as I think it has a great feel and takes you back to that early 90’s soul/Rnb ballad sound. One day I found the master DAT tape in a dusty attic, it had been stored there for many years. My DAT machine is on its last legs but I managed to transfer it to CD and MP3. Here’s a little laid back song from yesteryear - another 'blast from the past.' The reason I’ve kept it archived is because I think the lyrics have potential to be interpreted as a simple stripped back, acoustic guitar/vocal track some day. It was recorded by myself in my small student flat with the aid of only one microphone and one sampler in 2003.

In another lifetime I was known as a bass player by some, and a music producer by a few others. A bass guitarist, mainly because my guitar seemed to be permanently grafted onto my person whilst walking the streets, going to school, going to church etc. Recently many people from back in the day have encouraged me to re-string my bass guitar, wipe away the dust & cobwebs and see if it’s still capable of making a noise.

On the production side: growing up I had very little means of purchasing expensive equipment and had to find inventive ways of making recordings appear slightly better than they actually were. I still enjoy that challenge. Posted here are two old examples of recordings – ‘Save our love’ was recorded with a room full of very budget recording gear in the early 90’s and ‘B the 1 u R’ was recorded with a single microphone and a hardware sampler.

Now a graphic artist, I no longer gig or record. In some ways that’s released me to return to my days of experimenting in my free time, I’m beginning to focus more on the expression and joy of this God given gift of music and hope to share this joy with you.
