@mamasnake is at the heart of Copenhagen's blistering techno scene. She plays with a serious amount of speed and showcased that as far back as 2018 when she played for Boiler Room at our Amsterdam festival. But she is also a qualified surgeon, co-founder of Amniote Editions and curator who oversees the release of music, posters, videos and t-shirts. She prefers to keep a low profile and operate in darkened spaces at the dead of night, but with her at the controls, there is no finer place to be. 

Mama Snake's supple and sublime sound is a mix of sleek techno and uplifting trance. She plays with a tight and technical mixing style and can make you fall in love with tracks you didn't even know you liked. On this week's mix, she charges through kinetic beats and slithering synths that never let up, but never get stuck in a rut. There is always a breakdown to reset the mood, a dreamy lead to take your mind away or a vocal latch on to. They say that speed kills, but when it comes to Mama Snake, speed thrills.

Stella Zekri (@stella-zekri-ouiddir) is based in Berlin but her sound defies the usual expectations of those who dance in the city best known for house and techno. Her sets instead are instead led by soul and emotion and reach far and wide into the worlds of hip hop, house, new beat, trance, jazz, disco and bring rich colours and exultant vibes to the scene. She often likes to play long sets and isn't afraid of twisting and turning through diverse tempos and rhythms along the way, which is something she also does at the Body Language events she founded with Camilla Rae and Caitlin Russell in 2021. They have brought something all new to the queer scene in Berlin, while her monthly Breakfast Show on Refuge Worldwide and her studio work with 80s zouk and boogie band Stella and the Longos are further creative outlets that make Stella a new school star.  

All of this is reflected in the sixty-minute selection Stella has put together for us this week: it's a celebration of her eclectic collection that is powered by outgoing pianos, emotive vocals and gleeful grooves. There are old school house jams and silky soul-laced depths, happy 90s tracks and plenty of sensuous voices that all prove Stella Zekri's ability to keep the good times flowing is second to none.

The record features guest performances by producer Escobar Gallardo, who remixed the track 'Social' and Rene Roco mastered and mixed the remix. OCHI mixed and produced the whole album.

Walls, Corridors, Baffles is the upcoming debut LP by swiss producer Samuel Savenberg aka S S S S, out on Präsens Editionen on June 28th 2019. It is now up for pre-orders through praesenseditionen.ch

Following releases by S S S S on Haunter Records, aufnahme+wiedergabe, and LUX Records, Walls, Corridors, Baffles tries to find an approach to an artistic expression beyond tropes of darkness, harshness and excess. Instead of an abstract conceptual or symbolic treatment of sound, Savenberg emphasizes its materiality: Unadulterated percussive force meets an astoundingly precise vocabulary of electroacoustic sounds.

@trngs is a maximalist hi-fi music producer, multimedial artist and an occasional but quite a good sk8ter. After us grinding heavy on his last year’s projects BILOCATE and LAPTOP CREMATION, we reached out and he shared couple of very intense wav. files with us.

All the three files contain visceral sound tangles, which TRNGS himself (with our honest confirmation) insists on calling „dance“ music. Like in the cover of the record, which is capturing the tragedy of today's environmental condition, bits of the artificial sound elements blend insensibly into the organic material, all together creating a complicated 3-part puzzle, layed out on dark and rather disturbing background. 
„I am very passionate about making music with sort of uncanny relationship between synthesized and sampled sounds“, describes TRNGS on that note.

We have designed a sleek 3D-printed flower pot as an object accompanying the EP, so you can plant yourself a dose of organic green hope (with possible shades of purple) into this tiny zen garden.

Präsens Editionen was founded in 2011 to give home to zweikommasieben Magazin. Ever since a bunch of magazines, books, zines, records, tapes and oddities have been published.

zweikommasieben is a Swiss magazine that has been devoted to the documentation of contemporary music and sounds since the summer of 2011. The magazine features artist interviews, essays and columns as well as photography, illustration and graphics. In addition zweikommasieben curates and organizes a variety of events—for example Ebbing Sounds, a symposium that initially was held in the summer of 2018 in San Francisco, or the biennial London-based festival Oto Nove Swiss.
