Of the 5000 plus songs composed by Raja sir, the kaapi raga song Thumbi Vaa has been re-used for a record number of 6 times including the original. Thumbi Vaa (Olangal), Sangathil Padadha (Auto Raja), Aakasham Enaditho (Nireekshana), Monday To Utkar (Aur Ek Prem Kahaani), Mood Kapi (Live Concert in Italy) and Gum sum Gum (Paa). Balu Mahendra sir who is also the Director/Cinematographer of Olangal, Nireekshana and Aur Ek Prem Kahaani thanked Ilayaraja sir for giving this outstanding melody to his film and said that this is the best song of Ilayaraja sir for his films during the Neethan En Pon Vasantham Audio Launch held at Nehru Stadium in front of 5000 plus packed audience. 
Mood Kaapi went on to become one of the celebrated compositions of all time including a strong fan following in Italy and many European Countries. 
The song of this post is an outstanding composition in Kaapi Ragam, one of the 4 songs sung by Dr.Rajkumar in Raja sir’s music, three for this film Nee Nanna Gellalare (1983) and the last one in Ramesh Arvind starrer Hoomale (1999). In this song Jeeva Hoovagithe, the phrase "I love you" has been used harmonically as per western classical music and in the prelude where the hero and heroine are shown romancing in slow motion on the road, it has been used as NERAVAL -  a carnatic concert technique where a single word or a particular phrase is taken and the singer keeps manipulating the melodies within the confines of the raga. Example the line "rara devathi deva" in the song Balakanakamaya (You may listen to Salangai oli or Sagarasangamam).  Even though this song was a super hit in Kannada, one of the recent renditions of a young girl in Kannada Super Singer type of program won SPB sir’s big appreciation which introduced this song to the current generation of youngsters and children. 
The song according to me is also a classic example of the composer’s selection of keyboard tones which are extremely pleasing to the ear and does not give a feel of electronic sound.

Raghu Dixit's first project of 2012 is the EP "Unplugged - Live In York" - released April 23rd, recorded last summer with his band The Raghu Dixit Project in a stunning medieval church in Walmgate, York.

"Live In York" is an intimate, largely acoustic affair in which Raghu demonstrates his extraordinary vocal prowess and intricate guitar work in a five track set. It includes "No Man Will Ever Love You Like I Do", the song that transformed his career when he performed it live on Later.

With Jools Holland back in 2009 to an audience including fellow-guests Adele, Robert Plant and Arcade Fire, who all showed their appreciation.

Following transmission Raghu topped the iTunes' World Music chart in Britain and he's now India's highest-selling non-Bollywood domestic artist.

Live In York also includes a new version of the crowd (and YouTube) favourite "Gudugudiya Sedi Nodo", written by one of the great Kannada poets, Saint Shishunala Sharif.

There is one new song too, the poignant English-language ballad "I Still Love You", which was inspired by a romantic story from another Kannada poet, written over a hundred years ago.

Raghu sings with pure unbridled elation, his music and vocals are powerfully uplifting and a real awakener to the senses.
