Coming off a run of singles and an LP on Ubiquity Records, UK DJ/Producer Tigerbalm (aka Rose Robinson) brings her vibrant global sound to the RNT catalog with the Nina EP. Of the two original songs that grace the A side, Nina is a pulsing boogie affair with driving percussion, catchy chants and punctuating sax, and Sisters is shows a more balearic side of tropical with African guitar work and lilting soulful vocals. The B-side sees two distinct remix takes on the title track, the first by RNT regular Elado who bumps up the tempo for a stomping acidic club mix, and Voilaaa who transforms the song into a driving and authentic classic Zouk arrangement. This is my full remake of "Assumptions" by Sam Gellaitry, entirely produced in Ableton Live. I recreated the track from scratch by ear, including the melodies, drums, arrangement, and vibe.

Plugins / Instruments used: Xfer Serum & Ableton stock plug-in and instruments

Everything was done manually — no stems or official MIDI files, just pure ear training and love for the sound.

Ron Trent's latest effort is a joyous remix of Tevo Howard's 'Without Me'​, which will be released as part of 'Rebirth 10 Remixed', a comp celebrating ten years of Rebirth Records. 

The edit harks back to the glory days of house, channeling the sounds of times-gone-by, with glorious piano riffs and jubilant percussion sitting at the forefront. It's a classic slice of Trent and we've had it on repeat since we heard it.

Fôly means music in Bambara. In this track, I worked with the Ko Saba group in their courtyard in Bamako. There is bala- fon, n’goni, Tamani, each musician offered his music in great freedom, the singer was shouting. The music drove him crazy.

Fôly veut dire musique en Bambara. Dans ce track, j’ai travaillé avec le groupe Ko Saba dans leur cour à Bamako. Il y a du balafon, du Goni, du Tamani, chaque musicien proposait sa musique dans une grande liberté, le chanteur criait. La musique l’a rendu fou.

Biographie
PRAKTIKA (France, Blanc Manioc)

French music producer and DJ Jérôme Fouqueray (aka Praktika) has twelve years of experience in music and was looking for new sounds and influences when he turned his ears onto the other side of the Mediterranean sea.
In 2014, he took his music machines for the first time to the warm lands of West Africa - a musical playground so reach in possibilities that he settled there. Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali, Nigeria, Benin, Chad, Senegal... Praktika lives to- day between these various countries, hungry for new sonic palettes, new musical structures and workflow to spice up his own music productions.
It took him five years to develop a sound outside the beaten tracks, often through live improv sessions & jams with local instrumentists.
His dj-sets paint a road-movie where dark techno blends with South African Gqom, Chicago house and West African rhythms and sounds. Each set always co- mes with with a touch of surprising turns, brought about by Praktika’s fresh edits of old African tunes.
