Some songs just come when you need them. There is a saying in Yoga; practice and all is coming. I recorded this one on a late evening in my garage studio near the beach in Kitsilano. A cool synth patch, complimenting an acoustic guitar and some layered vocals gives it a meditative texture. The drum sounds are created by using a xylophone mallet to hit an old tin can and suitcase stuffed with a pillow. The shaker shakes and the track ends with the chanting of OM. Practice and all is coming.

Pranatricks releases his new single “Lights & Machines” out October 6, 2023. Pranatricks returns with the third single off of his sophomore album ‘Elements of’ set to release April 4, 2024. A return to a simpler time when we were not bombarded with media messaging, advertisement, and influencers infiltrating the super powered computers that fit in the palm of our hand, Lights and Machines is an indie alternative ode to remembering that our greatest powers lie within. Led by a softened crunched up electric guitar and a drum kit, Pranatricks delivers an equally subtle vocal performance that transports the listener to an era and space of effortlessness wonderment towards our understanding and personal connection to all things. Punctuated and separated by a rhythmic lead guitar line the bridge ads percussion and backing vocal shots to remind the listener to continually monitor their whereabouts in the outer world and ultimately leads them back to the heart space for the answers they are searching for. Parts of the track including the drums and vocal shots were recorded back in 2011 in an abandon warehouse in Vancouver Downtown Eastside, prior to it being demolished to build gentrified condominiums.  The outro harnesses the etherial haunt of the open warehouse space, while adding some layered arpeggio synthesizers to maximize the mantric quality of the vocals, ultimately returning the listener to a space of awareness within.

Indie, Psych, Folk artist, Pranatricks, envelops his audience in a soundscape guided by an insatiable quest for truth. Combining sonic qualities of indie folk, psych and alternative rock, Pranatricks delivers traditional songwriting amongst instrumental loops to create a soundscape that pushes the boundaries of the indie singer songwriter genre into performance art awakening.

Pranatricks is an Indie-Psych-Folk artist and multi-instrumentalist/producer currently based on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.  His debut album ‘Cherished’ released in January of 2023 garnered several accolades including 11 weeks of charting on Earshot and significant appearances on the National Top 50 including a #1 at CJSF 90.1fm the week of May 2nd. The music blog Indie Boulevard named ‘Cherished’, Best Album of 2022. In April of 2024 Pranatricks released his second album ‘Elements of’ and was featured by Exclaim! as a part of their New Faves for June 2024 and one of 8 Emerging Canadian Artists You Need to Hear. Other notable press included an interview from Read Range and coverage from numerous music blogs including Last Day Deaf, York Calling, Indie for Bunnies, The Wild is Calling etc. Having been active in the Canadian independent music scene since 2006 he continually shapes his outward expression through simple songwriting and instrumentation.  In 2008 his band Fur Bearing Animals, an electro funk duo, released a ‘Self-Titled EP’ that sold over 1500 units and charted extensively on Earshot. The title track Ivy Harvey Shoes has over 100K streams worldwide and was featured on Departures, a Canadian Travel TV Show. In a prolific spree of releases Pranatricks is actively working on a third album slated for release sometime in 2025.
