Tamango Records starts 2023 with four versatile originals by Disculture label founder Charlie Banks (PIV, MicroHertz). And that's what his 'Second Attempt' EP is all about. 

Things immediately get rolling with 'Second Attempt', sailing the jungle with lively conga loops, catchy vocal chops, and curious animal noises. Alternatively, 'Go The Distance' covers more UK territories via stripped-back, breakbeat rhythms, garage basslines, and big fat old-school drums, whilst 'Whip It' keeps the mainroom vibes going with pulsating low-ends, housey pads, and an irresistible funky pace. Rounding off the EP is 'Ride Across The Park': some warm-up & after-hours affairs here thanks to warm, mellow pads and an overall lovely deep flavour.

Manchester-based DJ and producer Mason Maynard drops his latest two track EP "In Your Eyez" on the highly regarded Whippin imprint from the Mason Collective. 

Maynard's reputation for groove-led productions precedes him, and his recent recognition as one of Tomorrowland's Ones To Watch in 2022 has only added to his growing popularity. With his latest release, Maynard takes his musical direction to new heights, blending rhythmic Detroit-style electro, hypnotic vocals, and nods to young producers' NYC and Chicago house influences. Maynard's previous collaborations with the likes of Green Velvet, Lee Foss, and a massive remix of Elderbrook and Rudimental's club smash "Something About You" have garnered global adulation. The Argentinian live artist has a signature sound that is deft in design and comes on top labels from Crosstown Rebels to Cuttin' Headz to Desolat. A man who has toured the world many times at some of dance music’s most esteemed venues, here he shows his class across two more fresh cuts that are sure to be recognised to high acclaim once more. 

Surprise is a bubbling track full of life - the vocals are well treated and pepper the groove with their own rhythmic effect. Synths pan about the mix to bring more dynamics and the bassline rolls below to lock in the floor. It's as fresh as house music gets. A Business Woman is a collaboration with Del Fonda this is more stripped back and silky. The smooth tech drums bounce under a muttered female vocal that is all steamy and seductive.
