Matrefakt & Lewy come together to cook up some seriously meaty and full flavour house weapons for Attitudes To Life Records.
Attitudes To Life Records founders and Shade Not Fade, FourThirtyTwo and Unsound Mind artists Matrefakt first met Lewy at a gig in Liverpool in 2019. They all hail from the North West, so soon backed up a promise to get in the studio together, and magic has happened ever since. The fruits of those sessions are ready to go, starting with this first EP, which showcases their high-impact house sound in all its glory. Sarah Story has already been hammering the title track on Radio 1, with Yousef, Anja Schneider and Elisa Bee also supporting it.
Opener 'Summer Breeze' is a rollicking house cut with its chest puffed out. The muscular drums and bass bring subtle funk while rolling snares, neat melodic patterns and edgy stabs add the all-important detail. After that functional but stylish opener comes the more expressive 'M58' (the title of which is a nod to the motorway that connects Lewy's Wigan with Matrefakt's Liverpool). It's turbo-changed house once more, but this time with flashes of diva vocals and a sprinkling of synths that bring a more party-starting vibe. This trio of top cuts completes with 'Midnight Marmalade' - the robust drums and the oversized bassline is cut up with raw synth licks and slapping hits that bring peak time energy to the dance floor.

Rarebit is delighted to welcome long time friend, Parsec to the family. Parsec has been busy carving his path in the minimal house secene, releasing on labels such as Seven Dials, Hedzup and his own imprint Inter Records. It's only right the Cardiff resident releases two signature cuts on the new surging Welsh label! 

Opener 'Dimcode' is a slow-burning and groovy journey through minimal house music.
With skippy drums, it gradually builds tension and energy, giving way to a catchy and pulsating bassline. Parsecs unmistakable subtle electronic textures continue to evolve with additional layers of beeps and bleeps, creating a dreamy and hypnotic atmosphere. The hypnotic elements of the track are further enhanced with the addition of a subtle yet effective use of a female vocal.

Next up, Parsec shows a different side 'Rinsah' This minimal UK Garage record is a bass-driven, upbeat track that emphasises the deep and driving bassline of the track. A classic UK Garage 2 step beat builds in intensity until the Reece bassline enters to provide the main focus of the track. Another journey but this time through the unmistakable sounds of a deep dark and garage rave.

This is a fantastic EP that shows Parsec's refined skills and diversity, tipping his hat to 2 steps but making it sound oh so Parsec! A wonderful addition to the Rarebit catalogue cementing themselves firmly at the forefront of the Welsh Electronic music scene.

The first track on his EP on NTRL is 'Spartaco' a beautiful piece of music which laden with emotion and uplifting sounds and pads. Kicking off with the sounds of the sea this carries you along on a dream like journey as if you were walking across the seas to another land. Classy!

he love for Sally C’s sound and burgeoning label shows no sign of slowing down. Last year’s ‘Big Saldo’s Chunkers 002’ was a phenomenon. Led by ‘Downtown’, which became one of the most beloved tracks of the year, it secured over 30 BBC Radio 1 plays and genre-crossing support from Peggy Gou to TSHA and Bradley Zero. Critical acclaim came from Bandcamp, RA and beyond.

Launched in 2020 with ‘Big Saldo’s Chunkers 001’ that’s currently on its fourth repress, the Chunker sound is special to all those who know it. Taking influence from artists including K-Hand and Fast Eddie, Sally draws on the sensibilities of classic US house music, crafting unique dancefloor cuts that don’t compromise on quality.

Active on the release front over the last 12 months with well-received remixes of Obongjayar, LB aka LABAT and a fresh original on Rhythm Section, we witness a noticeable evolution in her sound with BSC003. “I wanted to challenge myself when writing this record. I still haven’t released a full EP on another label, so I wanted to pair straight up Chunkers with something a bit different to shake up the Chunker energy,” she shares.
