“Lost in a Daydream is a reflection of my life for the last year or so. Being stuck in isolation for so long made it easy for my mind to wander down a dark path, looking at things with a bitter perspective, and wishing for things that weren't there. Most of the titles on the release were relevant to how I was feeling or what I was going through as I wrote the tunes. Completing this release has really helped me overcome the feeling of general sadness and wishful thinking I was experiencing and start to change my outlook in a more positive light. This release feels more personal to me than anything I've released before and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.” - Alex Keerd

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Keerd is fascinated by how music influences the environment around us - how it sets the scene and tells a story that reflects the writer's emotions or experiences in unique ways. With the California native’s background in sound design, he has been perfecting his craft in electronic music for the past decade. This multi-genre producer strives to tell stories through his music and mixes, taking the listener on a kinetic yet spacious journey with his original sounds and movements. He is a founding member of Inquiry Collective and assists in managing their record label, Inquiry Records.

ABOUT OVER THE MOON:

Over The Moon is the new sister imprint of Behind The Sky Music, a record label created by established electronic producer Bluetech which is committed to releasing high quality limited edition vinyl presses of analog and modular synth music.  Formed during the pandemic lockdown, Over The Moon is a collaboration between label partners and longtime friends Evan Bartholomew (Bluetech) and Maggie Houtz (DJ Maggie). The two work closely on co-producing the weekly Twitch audiovisual show Holotropic Happy Hour as well as the various artists Matters of the Heart compilation in summer of 2021 for Behind the Sky. Maggie’s love for - and encyclopedic knowledge of - downtempo electronica is the guiding force in curating a catalog of gorgeous and emotional electronic music.   Over The Moon was born out of an inspiration to showcase more explicitly electronic, beat-driven music that sits just outside the parameters of the Berlin school ambient and analog synth-oriented releases of Behind The Sky.

Merging Croatian traditional music with modern psychedelic chill/dub/glitch, "Horns of Veles" compilation guides us through different centuries and regions of Croatia via sound and ambience. For this unique occasion, local artists who have a way of building pathways throughout webs of time are carefully selected. They expressed that sweet spot of connection between traditional and modern through a visionary re-envisioning of ancient songs, sung just for this compilation.

Veles is a major Slavic god of earth, waters, livestock and the underworld. His attributes are wet, wooly, hairy (bearded), dark and with horns. He is associated with cattle, the harvest, wealth, music, magic, and trickery. He has a role in the carnival customs of Koledari shamans and as protector of travelling musicians. In some wedding ceremonies in northern Croatia, the music would not start playing unless the bridegroom, when making a toast, spilled some of the wine on the ground. The symbolism of this is clear: the musicians will not sing until a toast is made to their patron deity.
