Trip Through Bass & Time - Ep. 42

Recording of my 5 hour DJ set i played on Februari 17th at the Achter De Muren event in Walhalla. It's a mix of oldschool hip hop, breakbeats, house, electro, 90s rave and jungle.

Second part of the mix was recorded too hot and got distorted, but i decided to post it anyway, partly because the distortion kind of gives it the vibe of those old bootleg party cassette tapes that did the rounds back in the 90s

Trip Through Bass & Time - Ep. 79

This is a recording of the acid electro live set i played at the Onder De Plak event at Cafe De Plak in Nijmegen on October 18 2024.

Mistakenly left a filter on at the main mixer which results in some distortion in the first 8 minutes. This is fixed at 8:17

Nerd stuff about the live setup below:
- Main clock was the  ISLA Instruments  s2400 12bit  sampler . This was filled with all kinds of percussion and breakbeat loops that i could drop in and out by throwing the sliders.
- 808 style drums from the Behringer RD-8 that i had filled with enough drum patterns to fill an hour.
- Acid basslines come from the Roland MC-202 that was fitted with a  Tubbutec  2Oh2 mod, that allows it to sync to midi, store patterns and additional sonic spice.
- The Roland SP404mk2  plays long atmoshperic backing tracks that i prepared in the studio. I also manually trigger some vocals and effects from the pads.

Trip Through Bass & Time - Ep. 135

After a recent epiphany i realised that the sound of bubbling music always makes me unapologetically happy. It is the perfect mix of driving energy, loose grooves, associations with nice and warm places and an almost universal appeal that makes it the perfect style of dance music. This hit me with enough force that i immediately felt that i needed to make a bubbling album, so that is what i did. It's called Bubbling Shots and will be released one day after publishing this mix.

You'll find 4 of the 8 tracks off that album in this mix. The rest consist of the sort of tracks that inspired me to make the album. It's not all pure bubbling but also some adjacent groovy stuff.
