Following on from the success of his ‘Muscle Memory EP’ on Sherelle and Naina’s Hooversound Recordings and more recently the ‘Phase Velocity EP’ with Club Glow’s Mani Festo, Drumskull returns to the rave announcing the second release on his own label: Dream Machine.

A collaborative track developed from an initial sketch by South London rave instigator, DJ, producer and head honcho of the Subsidance collective: Pressa, Dream Machine is an unapologetic love letter to the all night party. Combining heavy breaks, driving sub bass, an infectious chord melody, frenetic acid line and lush, soaring synth pad layers, Dream Machine offers it’s hand to pull you deep into the dance. Unashamedly euphoric in it’s approach, Dream Machine has been retooled for all dancefloors by breaks and bass heavyweights Borai and Settle Down as well as Drumskull himself, reinventing the theme across the tempos ready for deployment in a wide variety of DJ sets, radio shows and playlists.

Jungle Mix 08.2023

Live set recorded at Subsidance Sessions at the Four Quarters Peckham, from last year.

It's one thing mixing in a familiar environment where you're in control of all the variables and everything's set up as you want.

However it's quite another when playing out and finding nothing is quite as you expect. Putting into practice what is achievable can be a challenge.

In this instance I had to overcome being on after an all-digital dj - in which the levels on the mixer were already set pretty high & did not give me much room to accommodate for vinyl (i had to max out the gains). 

Additionally, I hadn't stopped to set up the crossfader properly before I started and ended up struggling with a 'dipped' crossfader curve for the rest of the set, which was not ideal.

Still, after a slightly shaky start I settled in and managed to pull off a couple of nice mixes. I got quite a bit of good feedback from the audience after I'd finished so I guess the tune selection shone through.

This recording has been heavily remastered from the original, to even out the levels which were pretty low in places.

This tape is dedicated to Disc Shop Zero and its owner Naoki, who recently passed away.

Naoki was a big supporter of UK culture and music scene, (with a particular soft spot for Bristol) and did a lot to support artists within the UK scene at his events and in his shop. He welcomed anyone visiting to Japan into his home, introduced them to his family and went above and beyond to accommodate people with such warmth.

As someone who has supported Club Glow from the beginning as well as each of us individually, we've pulled together a host of like minded artists who either knew Naoki personally or someone who we knew he'd like and put together a jam packed tape for all of you

100% of the profits from the tape will go to Naoki's family and we hope this can help in some way with any cost they may have. so please join us in celebrating the life of a great man
