Manny seems to have a never ending supply of talent oozing out of it’s corners and cracks - a city with an obviously stellar musical history - a history being continuously added to. 

Motiv is one of the next breed of these Manchester talents, and after having only seemingly recently risen to the surface, his already hugely impressive and wide ranging discography shows that this young producer really means business and is a name that’s here to stay.

It feels like there’s already a ‚Motiv Sound‘, his tracks always possessing a well rounded sound and a coherent and progressive musical structure. This sounds like music made by someone who’s been about for years and is just solidly plying their craft, rolling out lush musical joints one after the other like it’s no big thing. That’s pretty sick.

And so we had to get him on CIA - and not only is he on the label - he’s come with five fresh cuts, just like that, and that’s his ‘Downpour’ EP.

Dispatch veterans NC-17 and Philth developed a bond during back-to-back sets at Outlook Festival and Dispatch Recordings parties across the UK. Sharing a nostalgia for the classic era of tech drum and bass, their spontaneous quick mixes and upfront selections gelled. This quickly developed into a creative partnership that aimed to replicate that same energy with new productions inspired by the golden-era tracks they still play in every set. 

Combined with a love of cinema and gritty, raw funk-driven rollers, the pair quickly found themselves in a prolific creative flow that gave birth to the 'Last of a Dying Breed' EP series. The first volume of productions from this period forms a statement of intent, with each track delivering heavy impact with huge dance floor appeal.

"fleeting memories; feigning happiness" is a personal journey for me that follows, among other things, the course of a romantic relationship, the stages of grief that came with it, and my understanding of my eventual diagnosis of bipolar II disorder. I suppose I'll leave it at that.
