Dispatch Recordings proudly present ‘Dreamland’ – the 2nd solo album from Bristol based DLR.

Continuing where his 2015 debut ‘Seeing Sounds’ left off, ‘Dreamland’ is an album concept that reflects on the world today. Encouraging people to challenge the barriers and comfort zones we blissfully exist within, DLR seeks to resist the inadequate reality we are sleepwalking into; an inherently greed based system, where numbers govern art and culture, whilst popularity determines the success of social causes, as issues are picked up and dropped in the blink of an eye.

Musically, the album is honest, straight up and sound design focused, as DLR pays homage to the older styles of DnB, building on the genre’s core principles, writing his own chapter in Bristol’s long running heritage. A statement of intent towards soul and groove driven music, each track is personified by simple ideas meticulously arranged, as DLR prioritises the raw elements to enhance the groove and sub bass, allowing each aspect enough space to breathe and develop.

Note: This particular track will only be made available via our limited run of Dropcards and on the double pack full vinyl release. It won't be made available to download via usual outlets as part of the digital version of the album.

Veteran of the Russian Drum and Bass scene Dissident brings us this nostalgic sounding EP, taking influence from the early sound of Dispatch Recordings, or labels such as Certificate 18.

Tucked away from the polished veneer and bright façade of the high street, behind the commercial fronts are hidden side streets, presenting the realness of the city. Finding a comparison in this to underground drum and bass, just left of the mainstream, this EP shows off Dissident’s wide-ranging influences and musical prowess.

From the atmospheric journey of Nightrain to the snarling synth line of Lost in the Plot, this EP is a nostalgic tribute to those glimpses of the old city found in side streets.

20/20 LDN are set to release 'Binomium', a collaborative EP between Up High Collective and Vorace. The raw sound of minimalist hip-hop beats with a dark techno undertone is a strange crossover of the individual styles of Up High and Vorace. Synths slowly evolve into new sounds, accompanied by a steady 808 drum machine, glued together by routing signal paths through tape delays, preamps in overdrive and voltage controlled MS20 filters.

"It's the first time we did a collaboration like this. Most beat makers that visited our studio don't fit our style or just don't know how to get around with the gear. We're very stubborn when it comes to crafting our music, we have a certain sound in our head and we stick to it. So when Vorace came to Belgium, completely unexpected and unannounced, we jammed for a couple of hours and were surprised how easily it all came together. This never happened before, so we said, "Ok, let us set a date and do this properly". So we did. Vorace came back a few months later and stayed for three days. We set up some rules like; no overdubs, no sampling, no pre-programmed sequencing, everything played live, only cutting out the best parts and pasting them together. At the end of the three days we had 92GB of recordings of bleeps, trash, noise and beats: the result is what you hear."

His background as a guitarist is a thread that consistently runs through his production, which adds a live and natural feel to much of his work. As a trained sound engineer working at a renowned studio, his experience from recording an eclectic array of bands adds a different dimension to his approach when making Drum n Bass. Working towards his debut album, this release is the first taste of things to come.
“The Place” - Teaming up once again with the soulful Vanity Jay, this track takes you on a journey of moods. From pensive and smooth to edgy and deep this track holds you on the edge of your seat as you travel through the soundscape. “Always There” - Known for his love of Amen breaks, Madcap brings his rolling jungle style to the mix on this energetic B side. Uplifting horns, retro guitars and bluesy vocals keep this fast paced record moving until the last bar.

Brazilian D&B producer Bungle has dropped new EP ‘Runaway', out 1st September via the rising Eloisa Records.

The three track EP begins with title track ‘Runaway’ that see’s a rolling and grit fuelled bassline interject superbly with sharp and snappy percussion. Things take a deeper and darker turn with ‘Unleashed’ as technical and expansive atmospherics run rampant throughout the tune as the drums chop and change exquisitely. Seeing things home is an industrial growler, and not one for the faint hearted. The aptly name ‘Articulate’ is Bungle at his best and will no doubt be a choice cut for DJs across the drum & bass spectrum. 

‘Runaway’ marks the fifth release on the burgeoning Eloisa, the fresh  imprint ‘on a mission to surpass barriers in the D&B scene’. Under the Inperspective Music Group umbrella, the label is determined to instil some fresh energy across the genre. Knowing no limits in its expression or style of the broad drum & bass genre, the only thing we can be sure of is that whatever they release, it will be quality.

Having released on the likes of 31, Critical, Spearhead, C.I.A and Soul:R to name a few, real name André Oliveira Sobota aka Bungle has consistently represented the highest echelons of drum & bass music.
