Sonata No. 1 (Nightfall)

As the holidays approach, I composed this short album dedicated to winter.

This is a solo, neo-classical piano album with a variety of compositional styles ranging from minimalist/ambient to traditional classical. The final piece of the album, 'Winter Rain', took influence from Frédéric Chopin's Prelude no. 15 in D major - 'Raindrop Prelude'.

I wanted these pieces to reflect the warm feelings associated with winter, despite it being the coldest of seasons.

Preston Peak is a composer and musician from Houston, Texas.

He was first introduced to classical music through his mother, who is a magnificent pianist. From Ludwig van Beethoven to Scott Joplin, the piano was always filling his home, and Frédéric Chopin quickly became his favorite classical piano composer.
