He Brought Me All the Way

Recorded live at Brooklyn’s historic First Church of God in Christ, Pastor David Wright and the N.Y. Fellowship Mass Choir’s Next Generation does more to preserve the legacy of Bishop Timothy Wright than any of their music projects to date.
Several songs on the album are in fact Timothy Wright compositions.  One of the most popular, “Jesus Jesus Jesus,” closes out the CD.  “Come Thou Almighty King,” “Presence of the Lord,” and “Who’s On the Lord Side” are also reprised on Next Generation.
Whether contemporizing old hymns such as “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” or stomping it out on “Praise Him”—Chrystal Rucker alternating between sweet notes and all-out squalls—the full-voiced, joyous mass choir and a team of soloists demonstrate fealty to the larger-than-life sound advocated by the late Mattie Moss Clark and the Church of God in Christ Music Department.
Soloists of note on the album besides Rucker include John P. Kee, whose lead on “You Are God Alone” makes the David Wright-penned song sound like a New Life Community Choir selection.  Danielle Kelley sings the glory down on “Who’s on the Lord’s Side,” Shawn Bigby’s expansive vocals glisten on “Thank You,” and Andre Byrd’s almost seductive style on “How Can I Forget” elicits more than a few female shrieks from the audience.

The most engaging moments on the album belong to “We Made It Through the Storm.”  Declared a tribute to the survivors of Hurricane Sandy, the track includes interludes by The Seal Breakers, a shout band with roots in the United House of Prayer for All People.  Shout bands are recorded so infrequently it is a joy to hear them whenever we can.
The husky, raw voice of Pastor David Wright, Bishop Timothy’s son, is ever present throughout Next Generation, an album that is a rallying cry in the “Bring the Choir Back” movement.

Every now and then God downloads extraordinary gifts and talents in individuals.  This is certainly the case with the Men of God’s Heart gospel group.  This phenomenal group is comprised of seven tremendously anointed men of God.  Their unique talent transcends one’s greatest expectations and leaves an indelible impression. 

Please meet the individuals who make up this extraordinary group.  Elder Oscar J. Stone, III and Minister Ronald W. Lyles, Jr. are natives of Columbus, Ohio.  They are the remarkable cofounders, lead and background vocalists, producers and composers of the Men of God’s Heart.  However, there are seven other equally talented members of the group, Rayshawn Brown, lead and background vocalist, Jonathan Lyles and , Jerold Lyles, percussionist and Anthony Martin, bass guitarist, Walter Burger, keyboard.

“No More Secrets” is an authentic masterpiece with a smorgasbord of musical arrangements that generate a prolific rhythmic directness.  The quality of which is simply phenomenal!  The voices and music are beautifully blended like woven tapestry.  Specifically, the project is masterfully produced and elegantly orchestrated.  “Daybreak” a musical story which ends well.  It is distinctively infused with lyrics that heal the broken in spirit and inspire the saved.  Surely, you will want to add this project to your gospel music collection.  

Most distinguishing, however, is their vast reservoir of vocal techniques and their profound ability to execute them.  Their voices are of majestic resonance with a refreshing style which must be heard globally.  The echoes and somersaults of their melodious and harmonious tones are very refreshing to the listening ear.

The Men of God’s Heart are just dynamic and pure energy!  Their audiences are elated by their flawless pitch. Notably, this magnificent group have delivered stellar performances with some of the world’s legendary and celebrated gospel artists such as, Lee Williams and The Spiritual QCs, Doc McKenzie and The Hi-Lites; Keith Wonder Boy Johnson, Evelyn Turrentine-Agee, Canton Jones, The Williams Brothers, The Alabama Boys, Damon Little, Lowell Pie, Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, Pastor Wess Morgan, Pastor Kim Burrell, Bishop Race Allen, Lonnie Hunter and Structure, Ford Memorial Choir, Dorinda Clark Cole, The Joy Boys, The Nevel Sisters and their spiritual mentor, The Bolton Brothers. 

Their media credits are also quite impressive.  The group holds the elite distinction as Winners of the “2011 All State Gospel Superfest Battle of the Bands” contest.  They also made a stellar appearance on “The Bobby Jones Presents on The Word Network” They also performed at The Urban Soul Cafe  during “The 2012 Stellar Awards” in Nashville, TN.
