A showcase of fresh talent from the global electronic scene, Anjunadeep’s Explorations EP series returns for its eighteenth instalment, featuring VONDA7, Tagavaka, Denney, Cornelius SA & Sebee, SQL, Nacho Varela and Cruz Vittor.

Kicking off the compilation is Polish producer VONDA7 with ‘You’re My Swiss Watch’. Having garnered support from the likes of Sasha, Anja Schneider, Camelphat and Laurent Garnier, this new production is a confident fusion of uplifting vocals and bouncing basslines.

Following the release of ‘State Lines’ on recent label compilation Anjunadeep 12, Glasgow-based producer Tagavaka returns with ‘Sky’, showcasing his textured sound design that has earned him support from Adam Port, Lane 8 and Nora En Pure.

Next up, British DJ and producer Denney marks his Anjunadeep debut with ‘Kamikaze’. With releases on Hot Creations, Knee Deep In Sound and Rebellion, Denney delivers a hard-hitting deep house track. 

South African producers Cornelius SA and Sebee bring their melodic track ‘Silhouette’ to the EP, reaffirming why they’ve respectively been supported by Eelke Kleijn, Nick Warren and fellow countryman Black Coffee.

A skilful blend of evolving synths and intertwining melodies, Dutch producer SQL delivers ‘Lagom’ - a track first heard on James Grant's mix for Anjunadeep Edition #345. 

Closing the EP is the collaborative cut ‘Kush’ from Argentinian producers Nacho Varela & Cruz Vittor. Characterised by syncopated basslines and percussive-laden grooves, the duo demonstrate their long-standing chemistry as producers that have seen them release on labels including All Day I Dream and Shanti Radio Moscow.

Simon Vuarambon, is a young producer born in Geneva, Switzerland who actually now lives in Argentina. The talented chap has released on Subtract and Flow amongst others, and has seen support from John Digweed, Guy J, Nick Warren and of course Hernan Cattaneo.
This release shows Simons maturity and musical development as we kick off with the deep, hypnotic warm melodic layers of Bahia, interspersed with subtle effective percussion while the drop is dreamlike with a glowing wash of feelings.
Pandora is next, with its understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along, while Simon manages to keep a hold on its energy, subtlety allowing the housey feel good mellow spirit too ooze out as though a liquid flowing over is soundscape.
And to close we find Soulmates, the tougher and techier of the collection, interspersing some roomy glowing love, while some filtered stabs collide beautifully.

With their first collaborative project Alex O'Rion and Antrim debut on Roger Martinez's Higher States with 'Imagine'. Hailing from the Netherlands and Argentina respectively, Alex and Antrim have found favour amongst progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while finding a home on Sudbeat Music, Hope Recordings and Cid inc's Replug Records. Now presenting their first ever joint productions, Alex and Antrim present a two track artist showcase via Roger Martinez's Higher States.

Alex and Antrim show the fruits of two artistic minds coming together on the title cut 'Imagine'. Fluid and inviting, it's well contoured groove is full of character, shape and warmth; while a band of hip-swinging rhythms put your emotional centres on high. Ghostly fragments add an air of anticipation, perfecting setting up a cascading lead theme which effortlessly weaves it's way in and out of the framework. Lying gently below surface, it's emotive charm is hard to resist, juxtaposed against a storyboard of timely effects, before rising to prominence following an expertly executed break.

The companion piece 'Round Trip' follows a similar sonic ethos but with a dubbier quality overall. In crafting a smooth rolling groove, the cross-continental duo have fashioned another powerful foundation, complemented with hypnotic pulses and percussive drive. Ethereal in design and poignant in delivery, harmonic phrases descend over the framework, carrying the piece into a hopeful second act, before getting washed away in a rush of beats and drums for a pulsating finale. It caps off a hugely successful collaborative project from two of progressive music's most beloved talents, making for another outstanding offering from Roger Martinez's Higher States.
