For the 34th split of the series, we invited two of the best french projects of the contemporary electronic underground scene. On the A-Side, Bloody Mary, resident at Tresor Berlin (@tresorberlin) and responsible of strong releases on Ovum Recordings (@ovumrecordings), U-TRAX and of course her own imprint Dame-Music (@dame-music). On the B-Side, the exciting duo Human Rebellion aka HR101, already known for some killer EPs on Discos Atonicos (@discosatonicos), Science Cult (@sciencecult) or Earwiggle. The result is a 4-tracks EP combining acid lines, rave synths, 90's voices, mental soundscapes and catchy techno !

VARIA is pleased to present the next episode in its podcast series, featuring EJA.

EJA is the solo alias of one half of Duplicity, a now London based label and podcast series. As Duplicity, EJA emerged onto the local Scottish scene in late 2019, playing at events around Edinburgh and Glasgow. As Duplicity, EJA has led the direction and spearheaded the label's overall sound through careful curation of podcast guests & artists for the label's releases, which have seen solid success. 

EJA focuses on deep, hypnotic, groovy and loopy elements, largely inspired by artists such as Rene Wise, Setaoc Mass, DVS1, MARRØN, Kaiser and has been working on his own productions, with a growing arsenal of unreleased works and a few select releases which have had consistent global support from the likes of Slam, DVS1, Beste Hira, Lobster, Justine Perry, Lea Occhi, Laura Van Hal, Vinicius Honorio, Border One, Kaiser, Annabel Arroyo, Lacchesi and been released on labels like SOMA, Duplicity, BCCO, .defaultbox, Calosc, PRTLWRX.

This episode continues VARIA’s mission: championing considered electronic expression and lasting artistry.

The label has become Altman’s primary home for his forward-thinking techno output, and the award-winning DJ and producer has graduated from Berklee College of Music. His refined productions have since appeared on respected imprints such as Robert Hoff’s trau-ma, Lindsey Herbert’s EvilGroove, E-HRZN, and Diffuse Reality.

The EP also features a standout remix from rising NYC artist Michelle Kay, known for her bold and vivid sonic identity. Emerging from New York’s underground and now an A&R, resident, and workshop curator for IMPULSE CØNTROL.
