This EP should give you an insight into one of the freshest producers out there at the moment, the German @lukasendhardt. He grew up among the most diverse kinds of big and small percussion instruments since his father is a Latin jazz percussionist. He always have felt connected to rhythms from cultures that are not his own. In one way or another, it has led a life deep in several rhythms. 
His catalogue includes much-loved work; most obvious thing you will hear is the focus on Brazilian rhythms. Lately Lukas had been very fascinated by the religions based on Yoruba traditions, especially Brazilian Candomblé. By the looks of it, we can understand how Babalaô EP was born. In Yoruba culture Babalaô (Babalawo) is the priest dedicated to the worship of Orunmila-Ifá, epiphany of divination. 
In that light, Lukas has created a work peppered with catchy tunes to provide us a cultural extrapolation. Therefore, this is not just about synthesis between two musical cultures but also between relaxing chill out music and highly energetic themes. All highlighted by his own hallucinogenic filter.
His mother, Burga Endhardt, painted the art that draws the cover. We can notice some similarities between EP & artwork: widely warming, organic taste, kind of surrealness too. It includes different layers, natural forms and shapes. We think that is a picture-perfect match.
Since it is deep, dubby, laid-back but always driving, the four tracks are geared for the dance floor. Nevertheless, certain elements reveal a hidden fringe where Lukas are serving contemplative realness. Besides the three original tracks by Lukas, we also have a penetrating perspective channeled in @arutani’s remix, delivered as a striking extra for the listener.
In short, the EP is a useful indicator for where Lukas is at right now stylistically and reflects as a direct correlation with our motto: slow is the new fast and awesome too

Barra Funda is something of a homecoming for Brazilian producer Spaniol. The EP takes inspiration from the neighbourhood (barra funda) in São Paulo where Spaniol (Felipe Torquato) grew up as a kid and rediscovered when coming back from a long year touring around the world. 

The music is inspired by Felipe’s walks down the streets of the neighbourhood, originally known for its community of Spanish immigrants, going to the local park, Agua Branca, or visiting the neighbourhood’s numerous strange bars.

Opener Moinho is the name of a favela in Barra Funda where, over the past year there have been increasing confrontations between the local community and the police. In February 2017 Felipe met a young kid called Everson while working on the soundtrack for a public theatre piece. The two bonded over their love of rap and poetry and the result is this heady mix of baile funk, deep-dark, organic electronica and Everson’s gravely rap verses.

The EP closes with epic instrumental Asturias, which features guitars played by Felipe (one of the first real pieces he learnt) and is a homage to the producer’s own Spanish heritage.

Agua Branca takes its name, and its inspiration, from a park just two blocks down from where Felipe lives and where he used to play as a kid. Today it has been transformed with an incredible café and has become a nature reserve.

Sale de Baile featuring Tugce & Cosmic e Damiao is a nod to the old-style saloons.

Lavradio is the name of Felipe’s street in Barra Funda and was written alongside Agustin (Barrio Lindo) when he stayed at Spaniol’s place. Agustín was one of Felipe’s first contacts in the scene and the two have built up a close relationship over the years.

Der Track stammt von der Berliner Folk-Band Bukahara und wird nun von vier Künstlern neu interpretiert. Das Duo @amelipaulmusic hebt das Stück in Sphären des Jenseits und fügt ihm noch einen schönen Klaviersound hinzu. @el-buho geht dagegen einen anderen Weg und setzt in seiner Version auf einen Dancefloor-Groove. @javid-3 seinerseits verwandelt den Song in eine epische Reise voller östlicher Klanglandschaften, die sich in Raum und Zeit verloren anfühlen. Abgerundet wird die EP durch @timboletti, der dem Original einen tanzfreundlichen Touch verleiht. (...)

Felix Tapes has been playing his favourite records in multiple nightclubs in and around Amsterdam since 2010. Being raised by two Africa lovers, African music influenced him since his childhood. Felix also travelled through South America a lot. Just listening to his sets and productions tells you how much the rhythms and grooves from these continents inspired him to create his own style. From Nigerian funk to Amazon tribe music, everything is possible. With his percussive and euphoric sounds he already rocked dancefloors at venues like: Ruigoord, Sugar Factory, Bitterzoet, Georgies Wundergarten, Studio K, Dhoem Dhaam and Gebr de Nobel.
