Have you ever woken up, rolled out of bed, shambled your way to the porcelain throne and, by chance, you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror?

You may have wondered, "Who is this person?.... because this is not the me I remember being."  

Some of you may just think that I am simply speaking of the physical changes that we can outwardly see. It's far deeper than that. It's looking into your own eyes and realizing that you aren't free anymore. Realizing that pieces of you are missing. That somewhere along the way your inspired ambitions have been replaced with illogical fears. It is the realization that you are so heavy. Not with any physical mass, but with the weight of 1,000,000 tons of what if's, regrets, and false starts. In that split second that you’re walking by the mirror you remember that you were once a FORCE; an absolute powerhouse who could move mountains.

There was a time when I woke up to these realizations everyday. I was stuck in a constant loop of wanting to move forward, but being unable to remember how to lift my foot to take a step. It was a time of ignorant misery, a purgatory of numbing pain.

Those seemingly insignificant few seconds of staring into my own eyes on the way to the toilet felt like an eternity every morning. A lonely millennia that passed by in the two blinks of my eye. Then one day it just hit me. No, this can't be real. This is not reality. There must be a glitch in the system. There must be a piece of code that has gotten corrupted.
You see, the thing that I forgot was that the mind and spirit needs maintenance too. When combined they are equivalent to a supercomputer. My spirit is the BIOS and my mind is the hardware. They require constant observation and maintenance. If I do not properly maintain them, they will break down. Every day I came into contact with spiritual and mental parasitic Malware and Viruses that we download and allow to nest and replicate and consume the best parts of me. I just had to look at my Facebook timeline or twitter feed to see all the examples of negativity, fear, greed and pervasive apathy that were eating away at me while I pretended to be oblivious to the fact.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you should avoid social media, the internet, or any other forms of entertainment. I mean, look, you’re probably reading this via one of those mediums at this very moment. What I am saying is that you should be aware enough to understand that your mind and your spirit are very powerful tools; and most of what we absorb in a day to day is utter bullshit. It is pure lies and fabrication created by paranoid people with the intention to make other people scared too. It is a virus. A deadly one that can make a man stare into the mirror every morning for months wondering where the pieces went?
Just like that. In between a blink and a teardrop I saw it. I noticed the glitch. It was so quick, so deceivingly subtle. That’s when I knew that I had to fix myself.

I had to ask myself “You wouldn’t run your brand new $2000 Laptop without an antivirus, would you? Then why would you run yourself (something of infinitely more value) without one?”

That’s when I wrote the lyrics to this song.

This song is the beginning of my spiritual “system restore”.
