@Manuel-Darquart is the alias shared by Sean Whittaker and Louis Anderson-Rich, two Auklanders and long-time friends bringing their love of 80's post-disco into the present with a serious touch of class. Having recently released on Seb Wildwood & Hollick's Coastal Haze, Manuel Darquart have been melding the cosmic ends of house and boogie with an effortless strut since 2012. The duo now prepare to kick off their third release with East London based Childsplay (@bemorechildish), a perfect home for their laid back and redolent Birds of Paradiso EP.

Sharing similar balmy territory with Harvey Sutherland and the Poolside boys, the track list plays out like a half-remembered summer's day out with friends and family. With Bolting Bits' premiere, Gutterball, melodic flourishes noodle and wash throughout the mix as crunchy hats swing and toms stagger about. Warmly filtered pads fill out the mix and the track allows itself to crystallize and settle into a breezy and buoyant roller. It makes for an effective reminder that even though the weather is beginning to turn, the good times needn't stop when the heat and sunshine are dripping from your speakers.

ECHLN gives a new lease of life to music coming out from South Africa. Born in Pretoria and now living in Cape Town, the sound engineer and producer, who lists Pharrell and Chad Hugo as his key inspirations, describes his sound as “something you’d hear from LA...more of an international sound with my own twist.” 
This personal twist lends an edgy take to the revered west coast sound that is reflected in his latest 4 track EP, SWAY. You hear his thoughts out loud as he 
cleverly joins the dots between house, funk, hip-hop, soul, with the percussive 
and rhythm very reminiscent of The Neptunes. Enlisting the help of DTW mainstay silo for 'Feels So Right', with the sensual vocals of Shirah Cheezer, Hunter Rose and Vuyo Renene, an enigmatic appeal has been added to the body of his work - the overall composition of SWAY designates ECHLN as a producer at the top of his field.

After a long hiatus, Bay Area producer and label stalwart Go Yama returns with a triumphant full-length release. Following a period of internal struggle with the realities of creating art in the digital age, the genre-bending producer has turned inward, tearing down and rebuilding his creative approach. This re-imagining of the Go Yama sound has brought one of his deepest creative driving forces to the forefront of his music: the need to cultivate a sense of exploration and curiosity about life.

Naturally, ‘The Exploration’ LP is the culmination of this realisation paired with a surge of unbridled creativity. Through tireless and unfettered experimentation, the producer allowed themes, narratives, and connections in the music to make themselves apparent through the process of creation, rather than dictating them from the start; the album is essentially a snapshot of Go Yama crystallising his own musical ‘truth’. Additionally, his interest in anime / manga culture is apparent in the sculpting of samples and soundscapes throughout the album. Fuelled by bouncy basslines, sweeping guitar riffs, a collage of found sounds, and a pervasive soulful streak, the sonic world of Go Yama is perched in the middle of a web of genres and styles, taking inspiration from all but never being tied down to any. With guest appearances by current movers like Mike Gao, Flamingosis, Elaquent and Ruff Draft, ‘The Exploration’ takes us on a journey deeper into this world than ever before, and it is a truly awe-inspiring ride.
