PRSM040 - ORTUS - ALERTA EP

Ortus is a talented producer from São Paulo that is constantly growing. His trajectory at Prisma began in 2020 when his song ‘Perla Nera’ was released on the annual compilation ‘Evolution’. In this release, we got to know a little about his studio and his creative process through the video he made for Prisma's 'Inside The Track' series.

Now, in 2022 Ortus is back at Prisma Techno with the 'Alerta' EP.  Containing four original tracks, it presents a hypnotic, dark and intergalactic atmosphere, marked by original and engaging vocals. The EP got important supporters, such as Richie Hawtin, who played the title track 'Alerta’ on New Year's Eve 2021, and Blancah played 'Way Out' at Time Warp Brazil 2022.

The world is going through a moment of great global alert, with pandemics, wars and climate change. All these catastrophes are alerts to activate our perception of reality, especially to make us more aware of the importance of taking care of the place we inhabit and mother nature. The time has come we must wake up to our internal conflicts and bring light to our actions in the world, with love, care and fraternity.

The title track 'Alerta’ is marked by intense rolling bass, heavenly melodies and a female vocal, which sounds like a radio transmission alerting us to the future that awaits us. As the track develops, psychedelic and metallic elements are added, helping to compose its interstellar atmosphere.

In 'Alone In The Crowd', the experience is compared to a meditative state, floating through space. This time a sweet and engaging female voice is combined with the powerful bass line, which grows throughout the track, until the arrival of the trippy break, highlighting the timbres and futuristic elements.

We continued with 'Underworld', giving the EP a more intimate tone. A steady, mysterious groove forms the basis for a playful melody, with layers of atmosphere perfectly blended into a sidereal orchestra.

We finish with 'Way Out', and we can say that it is a powerful track, marked by firm kicks and a very impactful drop. Here male and female voices are interspersed, along with sirens and Hitech elements, causing the impression is we are being sucked into a black hole.

Like a soothing voice from the past, nostalgia signifies a sense of yearning for what was, perhaps even for what was lost. It’s an emotionally tainted view back onto bygone times, carrying both melancholy and solace in remembrance of the lost qualities we prescribe to them.

For his interpretation of nostalgia, the Melbourne-based Elliott Creed created an interplay of filled and open space within his track 'Depth of Emotions’. A careful choice of expressive synths and echoing cymbals build up to a fully immersive soundscape, just to then collapse into a minimalistic and airy moment, offering space for memories of nostalgia to arise and linger while the build-up starts anew. The perfect tune to hypnotize a dreamy crowd on a foggy festival morning.

About the artist
There are two people behind the DJ-name DER EFFEKT: Marcel Fenkart and Marco Glabonjat. These two Austrians have been well known in the music scene of the Rhine Valley and in Vorarlberg over the last 15 years. In 2006 they got to know each other due to their love towards music and their sensitivity towards electronic music. Since then they've been very successful as a DJ-team.

Possessing numerous releases on respected labels, Paulo Foltz is a rising producer on the Brazilian Techno scene. The reason for this growth is the authenticity of its productions, which evolve continuously, incorporating new influences, never failing to stay true to his strong Techno roots.

After years of exploration and experimentation, Foltz finally reached the point where he was able to manifest the essence of his musical vision. His first album, 'Pineal Connection', is the result of a year of intense studio work, where the artist fully exploits the power of music with meaning and deepness.

Presented in 10 chapters, 'Pineal Connection' is a journey of emotional realignment carefully implemented through sonic landscapes and constantly moving atmospheres, which teleport us to other planes of existence. An album created for the purpose of putting us in a flux state and activating our pineal gland.

This small endocrine gland is a portal between the physical and metaphysical dimensions and is also known as' the third eye', 'the eye of the mind', 'the all-seeing eye', 'the seat of consciousness' and 'the entrance to the soul'. When activated, the pineal gland releases the DMT, 'the molecule of the spirit', which is the main catalyst for the higher states of consciousness, the intuition, and the experience of universal consciousness.
