After seeing my Classic Breakbeat Vol.1 mix reach over 16000 plays a few months ago, I knew it was time to pull my finger out and do another one. Thanks to everyone for supporting Vol.1—this new mix is for you.

I went back to the drawing board for this one and decided to approach this mix slightly differently than the first mix. Vol.1 was a nod to the smooth mixing style of Kid Kenobi, who 100% got me into breakbeat back in the day. Vol.2 alternatively is a peak time festival-mashup set, designed to take you on a ride from start to finish. As well as getting to include more classic breaks tracks I missed on Vol.1, I made an effort to slot in a lot of festival anthems from the same era of dance music (roughly 2004-2010).

So here it is, well over three months of work collecting lost music, sampling, listening to old mixes and searching for forgotten gold. I'm stoked how it turned out and I hope you will be too.

This is the music that really took me around the globe and people associate Krafty Kuts with. For me some, of the most exciting and fresh sounding music has been with the breakbeat scene over the years. Playing to 40,000 people at the Exit Festival, headlining shows across Australia & New Zealand to big Festivals in the UK & Europe, USA & Canada. So many great artists have been a part of the Breaks scene ie. Heavyweight Breaks 2020 is a snapshot of the hottest bass fuelled breaks released over the past 12 months mixed by myself Skool of Thought.

Those of you who have been following me will know I released the first Heavyweight Breaks mix CD on SuperCharged back in 2002. The approach for that mix then is the same now - 10 extremely carefully selected tracks which showcase the very best of the scene. 

The trick for me has always been to select tracks that are bass-heavy without being tear-out and uplifting without being cheesy. 

Naturally, I would like to extend my huge thanks to the heavyweight of breaks  - the producers who featured in this mix.

I hope you enjoy the mix.
