You have nothing to lose & everything to gain! & its easy;  it just starts with the single most painstaking, and constantly avoided act by everyone ever, which is taking a long hard look at yourself in the mirror for periods of time comparable to Aleister Crowley's method of scrying.

Wtf are we gonna do when it's more appealing to operate in a
virtual reality than it is to operate in our version of "reality?"
And if it's inevitable that this type of technology progresses until it is
indistinguishable from our world then who's to say we're not already
in the simulation?
