@yemanjo is a producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ based in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. His evolving tastes encompass traditional ethnic music from Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, shamanic downtempo, and global bass as well as soul, funk and hiphop.

Yemanjo's music is a rich and polyrhythmic concoction of downtempo and organic house beats meeting Latin, African and Middle Eastern influences in the form of ethnic instruments and tribal chants.  His new single "Bedawi" (Arabic for Bedouin) is a buoyant dub instrumental complimented by hypnotic percussion, traditional Middle Eastern instruments and his signature live trumpet melodies--the perfect vibe to accompany your trip through the desert.

The Osha root (Latin: ligusticum poeteri) is the most widely used herbal medicine. Almost every Indian tribe in North America uses a kind of ligusticum for medical, ritual, and symbolic purposes. The Osha plant grows in Taos, New Mexico and southern Colorado. Their power is found in the roots. Osha is the plant that is associated with happiness and protection. All traditional healers and medical professionals in the south-west value this medicinal plant. Many indigenous Indians regard the root as a talisman and carry it as a fortune-teller and protective amulet. Also in no medicine bag it should be missing. The Osha root frees the body from toxins, mucus and flatulence. Hikers use the root to protect themselves from rattlesnakes and witch wounds.

Kusht — The Tale of a New Earth

The EP includes four tracks. “Ossaim” is an encounter with the God of the forests and the flowers. In this piece of jungle-sound the duo invites us to embark in the woods, the ritual has begun. In the sequence appears “Sarvará”, an edit of a track of the very-very Brazilian ProjetoMujique; of this bridge Brazil-Portugal appears this second track, an electronic ode to Oxalá. “Ovoavoa” is an invitation to the liberation and celebration of life and love. An invitation to smile and dance freely. “Urubu Violeta” finishes the thematic clipping. It is a “musical illustration” of an original poem by actor Rui Queirós de Matos aka Spike that gives voice to the more futuristic composition of the EP. With an organic feel that is the result of an exciting layering, the Portuguese newcomers deliver a cosmic, fresh, unique and emotionally rich production of intentions.

“O Futuro do Passado” is a vivid introduction to the thematic clipping explored by Maria and Luís. With a down tempo ethnic's scene still embryonic Portugal seems to contribute strongly to the artistic extrapolation of the duo. An infinity of perspectives and colours, together with a powerful groove feeling make this project a unique sound experience. With the incessant search for ways of expressing themselves through popular music, Ohxalá delivers in such a different way a sound package that make us reflect on the past and look to the future without fear.

A orillas de la fría laguna , del sol picante y la majestuosa inmensidad,
entusiasmado por el pronto descubrimiento ,bajo la presión q la altura ejercía sobre mi frágil pero bien aventurado cuerpo,rodeado de tierras ancestrales que revelaban ante mi, mi propia esencia.

Tras años de obligarme a adoptar una realidad a la cual no le debía pertenencia ,
sumergido en visiones artificiales , proyectadas desde el ojo externo de la ignorancia.

Después de despertar del profundo sueño que el soñador ignora.

Se derraman las hermosas melodías que de las entrañas brotan,
que se identifican con las raíces caladas en las tierras de donde un día floreció mi existencia.

Reactivando memorias , emociones , lecciones que desde la infancia suprimidas yacían en silencio , recuperando así mi ser, mi sonido , mi nombre .
