Injecting new blood into the electro and ghetto scene, LuBeat enjoyed her most successful year in 2020. Known for her daring and creative mixing style, the Siberian born DJ and producer combines the fun nature of ghetto samples with raw, fast electro sounds. Her willingness to connect and support fellow artists has allowed to her build a cult following in both her hometown and across Europe. 

Her music today is merely a progression of her early obsession with rap and hip hop. She lists artists like Eminem and Wu Tang as inspirations in her youth, which many of her fellow artists use in their ghetto samples to this day. In her hometown, LuBeat is the main driving force behind the electro scene, she explains she wants to create a community where artists can share their music and skills in a willing environment. Unlike the majority of Russia, the thirst for this sound is absent - which is something she his hoping to change after the pandemic.

Her mix for New Wave is a perfect representation of not only her skills behind the decks but also the mood and message she is trying to push as an artist. She speaks very highly of her peers and is continuously pushing their music any chance she gets. We discuss this topic in our interview segment, along with her hometowns love for garage, the album she has been working on and her plans to travel to Ukraine and Belarus.

WithoutKKK has everything we value in an artist. The Tbilisi based DJ and producer plays a fast and daring brand of music capable of mesmerising any crowd and has the passion to promote fellow artists in the form of his exciting new platform Your Character. His prowess behind the decks and in the studio almost come naturally to him and over the past year he's used his passion for music to express his emotion and personality through his alias WithoutKKK.

Being situated in a city which has such a rich and historic club culture has certainly impacted him as a person. He describes the club scene in Tbilisi as the ultimate escapism from everyday life and admits that the atmosphere and community feel is what drew him in. Although having not played in front of crowd before, the steady flow of notable releases in 2020 and 2021 have made him one of the most exciting artists coming out of the city at the moment. Having featured on the likes of Crude, PosseUp and Hyperdome his stock has risen, meaning he is in prime position to kickstart his career.

We recently caught up with WithoutKKK to discuss the drug laws in Tbilisi, his signature touch on tracks, the massive techno scene in Tbilisi, Bassiani and much more.

Ray Monero who is originally from Bremen moved up to Cologne to open a club called Jaki which has a rich history to do with the legendary Techno scene of Germany in the '90s and 2000s which used to be called Studio672. His partner in crime who joined Ray for this mix is from Mannheim. Dogpatrol is also part of the ghetto traxx team! you can hear some of his productions in this energetic mix of theirs.

Ghetto Traxx is a V.A. only record label and a booking agency from ravers for ravers. Founded by best friends that have been breakin it down for many many years and still keep on going. Tired of bullshit and sick of elitist rave culture.

DJ Swagger returns to Nerang Recordings with ‘Bass Hysteria’ this March.

Following releases on E-Beamz, Natural Sciences, and Who’s Susan, the German-based DJ Swagger returns to Nerang after appearing on the label’s ‘Freaky Friends Volume 1’ compilation earlier this year, bringing yet another bout of high quality, high energy output to the table. 

Merging influences from Dance Mania through to UK Garage, ‘Bass Hysteria’ sees the DJ Swagger at the top of his game. ‘Atomic Fear’ galvanizes the pure energy of early DJ Funk, with air raid sirens and glitched out hi-hats punctuated throughout, while ‘Drybones’ nods towards early dubstep and UK flavours, with gurgling basslines and skippy drums bubbling throughout as occasional glimmers of gorgeous synth work allow the listener to come up for air.

‘Trail of Destruction’ encapsulates golden age electro, with effected vocals, crisp percussion, and gritty basslines coming together for a late-night groover. ‘Noseblunt’ is a fast-paced whirlwind, aimed for fog-filled dance floors, perfectly wrapping up the eleventh release on a label pushing diverse sounds from artists around the world.
