AKOV breaks all the rules and takes us on a 12 minute Journey through the versatile world of drum & bass, with his new track ‘The Exodus’. 

A summary of everything that has inspired the artist since the beginning of his career, AKOV explores previously uncharted territory from Ambient to Liquid, Jungle, Deep rolling, HalfTime and Neurofunk all within the confines of one composition. Originally intended as a soundtrack to a chapter within the artist’s Concept story, previously explored in ‘The Initiation EP; The Exodus accompanies the moment Humanity leaves earth in search of another inhabitable planet, while also symbolically representing the Artists venture into new areas of the Genre.

This is not your average AKOV track” States the artist; “I wanted to create something that demands your patient attention.” “ something that explores a whole range of emotion and isn’t just about Riling people up on the dance floor.” “Drum & Bass is arguably one of the most versatile genres out there and I wanted to pay homage to that fact. It was refreshing to express myself through something that wasn’t just straight Neurofunk, it can become limiting getting stuck in a certain sub Genre and I wanted to showcase my versatility as an artists and person”

The Exodus

What in Earth’s name is a Bun Bun? Is it a drumsound? Is it a vibe? A calling?  A (self-fulfilling) prophecy? A double sandwich made from a rare specimen of mahi mahi maybe? Indeed it might be a Romanian greeting. Some say that to the Japanese, Bun Bun simply means ‘shake shake’. Others soothe themselves by just repeating the words like meaningless yet powerful mantra.
Perhaps it is after all ‘an original creation, a philosophy’, as the lyrics so profoundly state.
