For the final show of the year, producer and @dj-pinch (AKA Rob Ellis) closes things out with a mix celebrating 20 years of his label @tectonic-recordings – an imprint which has been at the forefront of pioneering dubstep since 2005.

Established in Bristol, where Pinch has called home since the late 90s, Tectonic emerged from a city renowned for its creative communities and music scene, rooted in a history of reggae, trip-hop, and jungle.

The label’s first release was Pinch’s own 12", titled “Alien Tongue / War Dub” featuring P Dutty. From there, he went on to release his solo debut Underwater Dancehall and later, Reality Tunnels on Tectonic, alongside a slew of records from the likes of Peverlist, Loefah, Skream, Photek, Shed, and Mumdance & Logos. Beyond Tectonic, Pinch has collaborated with musician Shackleton on a ground-breaking album in 2011, as well as two projects with legendary dub producer Adrian Sherwood.

Over time, Tectonic’s sound has evolved from its dubstep roots towards the fringes, from breakcore and bass to experimental techno. The mix that Pinch has created for this month’s  Carhartt WIP Radio show traces Tectonic’s back catalogs, sharing past tracks alongside the present, with a few special mash-ups along the way.

The mix comes with an interview where Pinch eflects on the creative benefits of collaboration, the renewed interest in the meditative side of dubstep, and the lessons behind running an underground label for two decades. Read the interview at www.carhartt-wip.com.

Primal Sound has that instinct of a selector, which, in a matter of seconds, can change the atmosphere you're in, guiding you through the fine, hard, or subtle rhythms that distinguish him from others. It depends a lot on the place, the people, and the mood, to which he easily adapts. Today, with nearly 15 years of experience, Primal Sound has witnessed all types of trends, evolutions, and the growth of the electronic scene in Mexico, which has greatly helped him achieve a perfect connection between the DJ, the music, the audience, and the venue.

Primal Sound tiene ese instinto de selector el cual en cuestión de segundos puede cambiar el ambiente al cual estas envuelto llevándote de la mano con los ritmos muy finos, duros, o sutiles que lo distinguen a los demás depende mucho del lugar, la gente y el estado de ánimo el cual es fácil para él adaptarse.
El día de hoy con ya casi 15 años de trayectoria Primal Sound a visto todo tipo de tendencia evoluciones y el mismo crecimiento de la escena electrónica en
México, el cual lo ha ayudado mucho hasta ahora lograr una conexión perfecta entre el Dj, la música, el publico y el lugar.
