There is predefined Scilab function which can read the content of *.xls files. The Scilab function xls_read() reads a sheet from an Excel file and saves the data in the Scilab workspace. The xls_read() function reads an Excel sheet given a logical unit on an Excel stream and the position of the beginning of the sheet within this stream. It returns the numerical data and the strings contained by the Excel cells.


The file is opened with the Scilab function xls_open(). The data from the second sheet, Sheetpos(2), is read by the xls_read() function and assigned to the Value variable. Further, the WLTP time and speed values are assigned to the WLTP structure.


I habitually use csvRead in scilab to read my data files however I am now faced with one which contains blocks of 200 rows, preceeded by 3 lines of headers, all of which I would like to take into account.


I've tried specifying a range of data following the example on the scilab help website for csvRead (example is right at the bottom of the page) ( _US/csvRead.html) but I always come out with the same error messages :


Otherwise, my data is ordered such that I have my three lines of headers (two lines containing a header over just one or two columns, one line containing a header over all columns), 200 lines of data, and a blank line - this represents data from one image and I have about 500 images in the file, I would like to be able to read and process all of them and keep track of the headers because they state the image number which I need to reference later. My idea was to read the whole file and store it in a string matrix ( since mgetl as been improved since 6.0.0 ), then use csvTextScan on a submatrix. Doing so also removes the manual writing of the number of block/lines.





I have a txt file with 132 lines (characters and flots). However, from line 1 to 106 there are 10 columns, after that 11 columns. Than I couldn't use read function. I also tried fscanfMat but I think it only works for real numbers. Like:


For some reason, I cannot read csv files in Scilab anymore, which weren't written by Scilab itself. First, I thought it might be wrong with my files (although I have previously read them), but I also tried csv files from the internet and still not possible. For example, I used the first csv file listed on this website.


I wish to open and read the following text file in Scilab (version 6.0.2).The original file is an .xlsx that I have converted to both .txt and .csv through Excel to facilitate opening & working with it in Scilab.Using both fscanfMat and csvRead, scilab only reads the first column as Nan. I understand why the first column is considered as Nan, but I do not see why the rest of the document isn't read. Columns 2 and 3 are in particular of interest to me.


So it is possible to print the capacitive sensor value in the serial port terminal and read it immediately with SciLAB in order to convert the string in SciLAB in float and store the value in a vector for plot it.
