Having initially forecast his production energy into his own Tartan imprint, Wallace’s music quickly developed a cultish following among record collectors and influential DJs including Gilles Peterson, Optimo, Hunee and Ryan Elliott. Another supporter has been CWPT’s founder Palms Trax, who, following releases on Studio Barnhus and Rhythm Section, snatches four highly sought-after tracks for the seventh release on the label, each showcasing Wallace’s inimitable and enviable skills as an engineer and a willingness to stoke the sort of organic euphoria that DJs dream of igniting.

Amongst the curios, rarities and other finds that have peppered Palms Trax’s sets this past summer, it’s title track ‘Willow’ that has levitated entire club and festival dance floors like few others. Escalating from a disco percussion loop, ‘Willow’ soon brings on high-energy melodies and a captivating sense of something more ethereal, seemingly reinvigorating old tricks with exciting new flavours: if you only raise your hands to one climactic snare roll this year, we ask you to make it this one.

This refreshing intersection between flourish and function is felt even more heavily on ‘Breathe’, a contemporary electronic battle weapon whose breaks-and-bassline arrangement fluctuates between weightless wonder and heavy business. Frontloaded with the detail and atmosphere of a vintage Chems or Leftfield cut, 'Breathe' exhales then explodes all the skill and reverie of the most memorable 90s techno.

Wallace appears to dip into the chillout room for the swampy rhythm of ‘Masada’, before proving his slow-motion mettle, a Sergeant Peppering of psychedelia creating true hedonistic density and groove. In conclusion and on the contrary, ‘River Dancers’ maintains subtle hypnosis at a similar pace with much less, employing simple timbres and a stuttering, innocent vocal inflection to conjure wide-eyed whimsy far downstream from the EP’s earlier, maximal wonders.

Following on from Anoesis’ standout Stasislogue EP, Cyphon look to the interstellar offerings of Ben Sun for the next release on the label. On an axis that Cyphon are fast becoming known for, Ben presents four spine tingling, celestial cuts that balance weight, precision, and emotion with a distinct solar flair.  Having released on the likes of Housewax, Delusions of Grandeur and Utopia Records, Ben Sun has sculpted a sound that exudes warmth from its rays, whether plotting a disco trajectory or looking to the atmospheres of hardware-saturated house and techno. 
The Apex EP sees Ben orbit the latter, with opening track ‘Tether’ as enticing an opener as you could ask for. Modulated arps and dream state voices build into a deep yet powerful techno-leaning cut, doused in engulfing pads and peaking toplines. Following this, ‘Self- Other’ is a rich, Detroit-flavoured journey travelling from galaxy to galaxy. Marrying an electro funk feeling with synth strings and acid touches, atop a chunky Moog bass and potent kick. Take to the B side to see Sun hit deep space for the title cut, serving up a hypnotising slice of mind-bending electronica meets atmospheric techno. Otherworldly arps run your mind in circles, the bassline grooves across dimensions, before an enchanting breakdown opens out into a euphoric universe. Closing out this trip, ‘Shores Of Minds’ serves up an 303-infused hit of mesmerising textures and glistening sonics. Heads down business, with Sun’s signature stabs anchoring this trance-inducing jam. 
Blending the classic and contemporary, Ben Sun’s Apex EP hits that sweet spot that straddles the space and time between the two. As far in the future, as it is in feeling the past, with a gravitational pull that draws you in closer with every new element added.

Its playful melodies and disco drum machines could be from mainland Europe, it's strange synth textures could be Japanese whilst its sardonic vocals could be from a post-industrial town in Thatcher's Britain; we just don't know.

Milanese dream team, Volantis & Matisa combine like rocket fuel to bring you four fantastic original tracks: Notte Paradiso EP, available on Permanent Vacation 10th May.

When Matisa met Volantis at Somewhere Festival in Calabria, they quickly realised they were on the same sacred mission - to continue the legacy of Italian electronic music. Their synergy in the studio was incredible. Art flourished effortlessly, transforming seamlessly into 2022’s superb Amore 93. 

Inspired by legends such as Roby J, Farfa, and Miki the Dolphin, Volantis and Matisa have once again picked up the baton of 90’s Italo house... and ran with it straight into 2024. So, join them on their journey into a night of paradise (Notte Paradiso).

The first chapter in your sonic adventure is Incantesimo. Matisa’s ethereal vocals call you into another dimension. Oberheim arpeggios and driving Moog basslines dance down the Italo brick road where they meet the wickedest of guitar riffs. You start to realise just how much you have needed this kind of music in your life.

The start of chapter two - Notte Paradiso, is beautifully tapped out on a Roland JD800 pad. Just when you think you know where Volantis is leading you, Matisa whispers ‘Notte Paradiso’ softly in your ear and pulls you straight through the looking glass. You choose the red pill. Suddenly in front of you are two duelling Moog basslines, spurred on by a crowd of distant, indecipherable voices in this vast kaleidoscopic colosseum.

Pull on your spacesuit for chapter three. These are the voyages of the Starship Galassia Sentimento. The joyous guitar riff synergises with the overwhelming rhythmic groove, boldly taking you where no-one has gone before. ARP2600 and Space Echo bringing you to warp speed as you hurtle through Volantis & Matisa’s psychedelic universe. 
 
Back on Terra Firma, SOL is the final chapter of your adventure, the cinematic soundscape and simple, yet substantial groove surrounding you in this dreamy, melancholic finale. It’s clear to see why Volantis & Matisa have chosen this masterpiece as their next single, released 26th April.  As you head off into the Sunset, Sergio Leone style, the two leading protagonists played perfectly by Sequenced Synths and Juno Pads. The colours change from azzurro, to rose, to indigo, bringing your sonic journey to a fulfilling, satisfying and happy ending. Ghostly voices of the ensemble cast of Notte Paradiso bid you a fond farewell as you walk with Volantis & Matisa towards vanishing point.

Over the past years, Pirka has been constantly working on delivering a combination of upcoming talents and renowned artists. With our number 28, we have achieved just that.

We are glad to introduce the super talented Dutch producer Querry Veldt, who has delivered three original tracks. These tracks are a combination of deep, layered sounds, divine Kerri Chandler-like synths, and perfect, punchy kicks, all mashed together to create an instant house classic. The EP is accompanied by one of our favorite producers, Janeret, who has contributed a masterful remix.
