This is a remix I did for fun a few months ago, when Grimes entered this song for a remix competition. I had a lot of fun with it, and tried to do it as quickly as possible. I love Grimes and her DIY approach was something I always admired in her. I also did the graphic to keep the DIY spirit. Enjoy!

Grimes- You'll Miss Me When I'm Not Around (RMX by Marisol)

"Plaża"  (eng. the beach) is an unobtrusive, unforced track. It was born in mid-summer 2020 during several improvised sessions in my bedroom studio. The beat is simple, repetitive, initially it served as a background for improvisation and practice. I liked the sunny vibe of the beat so much that she decided to collect the better parts of my improvisations and put them together. Two songs that I was particularly inspired by were - "Maria También" by Khruangbin and "Borderline" by Tame Impala. The piece is dominated by heavily distorted guitar sounds, complemented by conga, bongos and flutes. The whole thing is supposed to bring to mind an evening, sunset walk at the beach.

Linkin Park was one of the most important bands of my youth. The first large concert I went to was "Project Revolution" in 2004, a festival hosted by Linkin Park where artists from both the metal and hip-hop scene met on one stage. That was one of the most memorable nights of my life and from that day forward I knew that music is my destiny.

Dance with Darkness started out as a sample song from Dio's "All the Fools Sailed Away". I then cut the sample and made a beat inspired by R'n'B and hip-hop. Even though the sample was eventually replaced by the chopped track of a live guitar, the beat remained the same. The number is also inspired by the numbers from the '90s, the so-called "Slow jams", the era of Aaliyah and Timbaland, LL Cool J, etc. and the guitar sound of the work of metal bands such as Dio and Metallica. Dance with Darkness is a quite a dark, hypnotic number, based on distorted guitars, synthesizers, dance beats and a trance feeling.

"Samurai" is a cinematic piece. 
The visual inspiration behind the song is a scene in the 1999 Jim Jarmusch movie "Ghost Dog", where the main character drives around town at night listening to music. At the beginning of the song, you can hear the character getting into his car and driving away. Through the physical journey both the character and the listener experience a journey within and learn an important life lesson. 
The end of the song represents dawn, and the return home. 

Sonically "Samuraj" is inspired by "Building Steam With a Grain of Salt" by DJ Shadow, "Lost in Moments" by Ulver, and "Shook Ones" by Mobb Deep.
