The events of recents months and years have revealed how fundamentally unsustainable and unjust the American system is. All around us democracy erodes, authoritarianism creeps and the climate burns. In this divided, damaged time, music has the power to heal, to connect and to nurture growth. 

For Cypher 27 the challenge was to create a song that evokes the powerful amphetamine of Revolution. The songs capture and channel the anguish, frustration, and deep rage of the 21st century into a cathartic release of creativity, and connectivity. 

It is time to build a new politics, a politics of Peace, Justice, and Equality, for the people, for the animals, for the world. Cypher 27 is the soundtrack for this.

The goal of Cypher 36 was to create a track that utilizes the sounds of chiptune. What is chiptune, you might ask? Chiptune utilizes the simplest and original waveforms, combined with FM synthesis and basic sampling to create awesome sounding music. If you've ever played any video games from the 90s on the Original SEGA or Nintendo systems, you were listening to chiptunes, made with audio programming tools called Trackers, some of these programs were only limited to 4 channels. These were later replaced with the modern DAW that we use today. Please follow all of the artists below to learn more.

Hot on the heels of his banging tune ‘Suburban Terror’ that was included on the ill.Gates Presents: The Class Of 808 Vol 2 release, Trigem goes even deeper down the rabbit hole on his new EP, Kismet.
The EP keeps us glued to the journey with deep beats, locked grooves accented with ass wiggling wobbles, trippy psychedelic bleeps, squiggles and bloops, augmented with some nifty percussion and sound design.

From the depths of the murky swamps in Louisiana emerged Trigem, aka Casey Walters. His unique flow of wonky, weird basses mixed with hip-hop drum patterns are sure to put you in a daze on the dance floor. After launching in April of 2018, Trigem has found himself a welcome home within the underground bass scene with releases on the labels: Wormhole Music Group, The Dog Pound, Sus Collective, Drama Club Recs and now on Producer Dojo.

Moonsplatta had a banging tune on the  ill.Gates Presents: The Class Of 808 release, and now hits us with some glitched out and melodic beats with plenty of bang in them.

The EP kicks off with an indie vibe, guitar licks guide you in, creating some epic atmospherics, before some heavily reverbed synths drop into Dubstep hooks. Robotik then comes in and sounds like Bender from Futurama has had a few too many and is getting his gears well oiled. The EP continues on with heavily stepped riddim stompers and will certainly be banging some heads.

In 2016, ill.Gates released the “More Tea EP” which incorporated the sounds from field recordings and studio sessions in Taiwan, along with samples of Alan Watts, Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. For Cypher 21, the challenge to the Class of 808 was to create a non-aggressive song that creates soundscapes for the Urban Teahouse. No synths were allowed except for sub-bass and the results are an ultra-chilled out journey that is the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon of meditative tea tasting.
