This is the first single from Electric Sufi's first album. It features Sufi singer Sarah Yaseen, Coptic virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Mina Salama, and electronic music producer and researcher Professor Chill. This track is a reworking of a Mediaeval chant by Abbess Hildegard of Bingen.

O Ignis Spiritus

This is the sound of a reconstructed model of the Isturitz bone flute, made and played by Dr. Simon Wyatt. The original archaeological find that it is based on was 30,000 years old. It is being played in Zone 9 of La Garma, a cave in northern Spain that features prehistoric cave paintings. In the space where Simon is playing are four hand stencils that are also about 25,000 or more years old.

This is the sound of music archaeologist Dr. Simon Wyatt playing a cow horn in a cave called La Pasiega in northern Spain. This cave is known for its prehistoric paintings. SImon walks towards the place in the cave with the most paintings.

This is the sound of drum being played in Las Chimeneas cave. This cave is known for its prehistoric cave paintings. The drum is being played in a small side chamber. The chamber has unusual resonant bass frequencies, you can hear these like an echo after the drum. The drum itself is a model reconstruction based on an ancient Siberian shaman's drum from a Finland museum.

This is the sound of a bullroarer being played at El Castillo cave. This cave is known for its prehistoric paintings, the oldest one is dated at 40,000 years old. A bullroarer is a small leaf shaped piece of wood or stone which spins rapidly when a piece of string attached to it is whirled around your head. These instruments are found across the world.

This is a performance made in Las Chimeneas Cave, in Spain, part of the Cave of Altamira and Paleolithic Cave Art of Northern Spain. Lithophones, stalactites that ring, are being played with mallets chosen to be very soft so as not to mark the rocks in any way. The cave is full of beautiful prehistoric paintings.

These are performances made in caves in northern Spain that are part of the Cave of Altamira and Paleolithic Cave Art of Northern Spain world heritage site. These caves have remarkable acoustics, and researchers have suggested that the location of the paintings is influenced by acoustics and sound. These recordings were intended to play a part in testing that theory. The cave is full of beautiful prehistoric paintings.

Las Chimeneas Lithophone Sampler And Voices Soundscape

These recordings were made at the site of Sculptor's Cave in Covesea, near Lossiemouth in northern Scotland. Three caves on this part of the coast have extensive histories of human occupation. The caves has many signs of ritual activity, including a number of carvings on the wall, some of Pictish origin. There is evidence of decapitated heads being displayed, and of a large number of human heads being displayed. Ritual activities are usually accompanied by music, and since other Pictish carvings feature harps prominently, it was decided to record harps and lyres at this site. The instruments are reconstructions based on archaeological evidence, played by Simon Chadwick and Bill Taylor. The nearby bird colony, and the sounds of the sea are also clearly audible. The recordings were made by Rupert Till.

This track by Professor Chill features Mina Salaman playing a replica of the Isturitz pipe, a reconstructed model of a 20000 year old vulture bone instrument found by archaeologists in a cave in France. Mina is from a Coptic background, and was formerly principal Nay player in an Egyptian opera company, before becoming a refugee in the UK. The track is the first single from the Album Dub Archaeology, and is available to download and stream.
