I created a patch on my MatrixBrute and ran a radio through it as another sound source. Two randomized LFO’s were mapped to maybe a dozen or so parameters. This entire recording was randomly generated by the synthesizer and the FM radio ran through it.

So here's one of my favorite tracks of all time, probably the first electronic track I ever heard and really liked. My Mom used to play this in her car when I was a kid, particularly as we went through the car wash. I usually close my live sets with this mashup which features:

The last of the commissioned works, this was a request by a good friend and fellow music student, Doug Raymond AKA "Lord Irwin" (you can find him here on SC). 

I really wanted to do something in my own classic style and get back to the stuff I honestly and truly like and not try to compete with the direction that a lot of dance and electronic music is going. Thusly, this is a lot more disco, a lot more cinematic... I think I was able to dig up a lot of the old styles I got into and, thusly, was able to get a lot more out that way.

I made this track... I guess I was... 15? It would have to be a Scientific Method 1 era track... either way, I realized that this wasn't on SoundCloud, so I figured I should upload it.

The picture is what my setup looked like when I was about 19 I think? It was at my mother's house... that desk was made of shitty cork board... those are Panasonic speakers... and that Radium49 now sits in the MIDI Lab at Columbia College Chicago... the PadKontrol sits at my friend Whitney's house (she's played drums with me before)... 

That computer sits at my buddy Devin's house. I don't know if it still works.

Well this is nostalgic.

Traffic Cars

This is the collection of music I created that made it into the game. I'd like to thank NADEO, namely Gabriel Morin and Eduoard Beauchemin for being truly awesome to work with. It was a unique and challenging experience, but above all, it was a dream come true.

The original track, "Plastic & Flashing Lights", has been around for ages. I felt it could use a bit of a face lift and even a name change, in light of Patator Productions' video, created by Victor Haegelin. 

Wire & Flashing Lights

Aiming for something more environmental, I wasn't afraid to use some ambient forest sounds along side some morphing, evolving pads and slow, droning bass lines.

Some sort of melancholy call of a melody came to me while I was working on the drums, which usually come first. The rest sort of fell into place... though it's disco in its nature, "Forecast" was inspired by the groggy, exhausted feeling of being on the road before dawn, listening to a municipal weather report to plan the day's route.

Forecast

Eventually being used as a night-time track, this was compulsively inspired by the late 80's - early 90's flawless taste of game composer Yuzo Koshiro. Though it's suited for a driving game, it's somewhat of a love letter to his work in one of my favorite games of all time, "Streets Of Rage".
