Proficient is a independent rap artist hailing from Queens, Far rockaway, New York. He was born in Metropolitan hospital in Manhattan, New York and his family is of Colombian and Guatemalan descent. He speaks and could rap in both languages and also works with the youth. He has shared his gift with the youth by helping teach many different subjects through art and self expression workshops. Proficient has a distinct sound, that is both sophisticated and street.He was exposed to hip hop at an early age and most of his music is freestyled and also a great writer. He grew up in the golden era of Hip Hop in red fern projects in Far rockaway New York, where greats like Stack bundles grew up at. He learned from the best in his era. Influenced by the rocksteady reunion, street ciphers, and battles from the projects to  the plazas, to the stages and the audience. His music is a quiet revolution that is silently spreading internationally and locally in the streets to showcases he headlines all around New York City and now around the world as he traveled to Quebec,  Canada and plans to tour many countries with his music in the near future
