As member of the renowned Parisian HORS-SOL family, Maryu is a dedicated explorer and promoter of polymorphic trance. This recording is a revival of a blend of trance genres; exploring psychedelic and progressive trance, with early 90’s influences and more recent inspiration from the 2010’s. With a passion for energetic drops, Maryu will take you on a dynamic, adrenaline filled journey guaranteed to bring you to a place of nostalgia and euphoria.

After last year’s entertaining encounter, we kept in touch and learned that he’s quite a few exciting things in the works, among which are new records for Kalahari Oyster Cult and Spray’s brand new Punctuality Records. This week we're delighted to welcome the HORS-SOL collective, made up of Jolly, Lastvuska, Maryu and Germain Cls, to our mix series for an energetic, club-oriented set, mixing organic and synthetic sounds with brio. 

A trio behind the decks when they perform as DJ acts, HORS-SOL distil a palette of progressive and euphoric sounds, inspired, when the party's in full swing, by tones drawn from the 90s and 2000s repertoires of progressive house, trance and techno, as well as more contemporary sounds.

An instigator of a light and benevolent vision of the night, the series of events and eponym collective regularly offer interludes of lightness in and around the French capital, with residencies at Le Trabendo in Paris and La Marbrerie in Montreuil, and now events in several European cities. You can catch them behind the decks this Friday at Le Trabendo, then at Le Macadam in Nantes on 16 March.

"I would love to say that I recorded this on a whim without planning, but realistically I spent a while refining the set list to properly encapsulate what a more “driving” and “rolling” Aiden Francis set sounds like compared to previous mixes. For this mix I veered towards a truly progressive journey - working our way up through different energy levels and textures, and withholding explosive energy until we reach a peak in the final stages of the mix.

I like to see my sets as a deep ocean dive, starting out light and fun to start then quickly dipping into deeper territories and slowly bringing ourselves back up for that release of energy - hopefully this sentiment translates well whilst listening. And if none of that connects then I hope you enjoy it anyway xoxo"

@aidenfrancis is a vibrant presence surfing the Manchester scene and beyond, following a string of releases on the likes of Magic Carpet, Duality Trax, Gestalt, Radiant Records and Houseum. The only way is up for this avid record collector and his eclectic sound that undulates between soft-electro, trance, tech-house whilst always keeping his fingers dipped into progressive.
