Continuing a strong beginning for the new imprint, Movement Ltd revitalizes two progressive music classics from Michael Burns. Recording under the alias’ of Blue Haze and Panoptic, UK artist Michael Burns earned recognition shortly after his initial productions were released in 2002. As a favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sander Kleinenberg, Michael landed standout releases on Deep Records, Little Mountain and Saw Recordings through the mid-2000s. With that several of the genre’s timeless classics were born, none more memorable than perhaps ‘Surface’ and ‘Into Nothing’. Now breathing new life into these seminal creations, Movement Ltd presents new revisions from Paul Anthonee and Tash for the Spring of 2021.

Movement Recordings mainstay and Astral Records A&R Paul Anthonee is up first with a powerful rendition of ‘Surface’. Originally released in 2003 on Minimal Records and played by Sasha & Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz and Jody Wisternoff, the track's place in progressive music history is firmly etched. Well known for his astral techno sounds, Paul Anthonee now presents those memorable melodies in an entirely different context. Dark, compelling and geared for peak time play, the Cypriote’s punchy beats, electric rhythms and crunchy design lays the foundation for Michael’s reflective melody to delight across an eight-minute cosmic journey.

Completing the release Movement Recordings label boss Tash reimagines the Bill Hamel ‘Last In 9 Vocal’ version of Blue Haze ‘Into Nothing’. Originally released in 2004 on Satoshi Tomie’s SAW Recordings, the project signified a shift in sound from the label’s darker, tribal roots. Storied US artist and Sunkissed Records founder Bill Hamel had a hand in a multitude of memorable releases throughout progressive music’s first movement. In addition to being a favourite of Sasha & Digweed, Bill was a highly regarded mix engineer, working with Seal, U2, Nelly Furtatdo, Marilyn Manson, Gwen Stefani & Pharrel, Rihanna, Madonna, Britney Spears, Depeche Mode, New Order, Prince and Justin Timberlake. Earning two Grammy nominations in the process, Bill always remained tied to the electronic underground in some regard as well, most recently releasing as Fantum on Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats imprint, before tragically passing away in 2018. Looking to honour Bill’s memory, Movement Recording label boss Tash provides a fresh take of Bill’s highly regarded take on ‘Into Nothing’. With the remix being regarded by some as one of progressive music’s greatest tracks, Tash stays true to its musical spirit and overall groove, resulting in a version that sits comfortably in both current and nostalgic spaces. Highly emotional, it rounds out an excellent second release for Movement Ltd, a label who has laid the ground work for an incredible year to come.

Every time Guy J releases his solo material on Lost & Found, the world of music lovers is ready for a treat. He's not only one of the leaders of the global scene but a musical innovator pushing the limits of studio techniques and borders of abstract emotional content. His latest conceptual masterpiece consists of two tracks ranging in length from over 7 to almost 11 minutes and a total run time of over 18 minutes. The opening track, Last Standing, blends the progressive motifs with an out-of-this-world anthemic breakdown. The piece is simultaneously melodic and nostalgic but manages to deliver a new, previously unheard edge to the technical execution of the production. The closing track, Fire, uses temperamental arpeggio resonances, constructing a mystical soundscape for a joyride into a higher state of perception. Guy’s sonic skills work as a hypnotic tool. A rich musical background with time spent in rock bands playing guitar and singing gave Emi's electronic compositions a measurable creative edge. This elusive sound did not go unnoticed as he quickly earned the praise of genre tastemakers Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren; while landing career defining releases via Balance, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden. Also, an accomplished DJ, Emi's long undulating sets have been applauded for their impeccable track selection and exquisite programming. As one of Argentina's most in demand DJs, Emi has travelled the world, delighting crowds in Egypt, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Peru, Romania, Russia, Spain and Uruguay. Forever choosy in his projects, Emi now begins his 2023 production schedule by adding Replug to his resume with a two-track showcase entitled 'Samsara'. 

As the progressive rhythms and exotic drums of opener 'Samsara' unfold, it's clear that Emi's craft must be taken to heart. Capsizing basslines cleverly co-ax with punchy beats and thought-provoking vocals as an epic collage of sonic energies takes shape. The Argentine allows the nine-minute journey to build patiently, exploring all paths for its oriental synth melodies, carrying the listener away on a cosmic pilgrimage to reconnect with feelings of hope, freedom and possibility. The worldly arc of both the melodic and vocal elements parallels the increasing depth of Galvin's sonic palette, whereby his classic combination of room rocking grooves and genuine musicality becomes its most dynamic, and most powerful.

Beneath the potent tidal waves of 'Samsara' lies the hyperventilating helium rush of 'Around the World'.
